View Full Version : I'm depressed and it's your fault
Yes, you. All you people who changed the names of the forums so this place doesn't feel familiar any more, and took away the descriptions of the forums that you didn't change the names of so it's just worrying. And all you people who are having birthdays whose announcements and threads I've missed because I've been too busy to visit often. And all you newcomers who I haven't greeted for the same reasons. And all you people who post interesting and funny stuff that I want to read but miss. And you bulletin board software developers who make it so I lose track of what threads I haven't read yet if I read just one thread ... so it's like sipping from a firehose ... and deters me from visiting at all unless I've got enough free time to at least look at all the thread titles; also who make it hard to upgrade to new versions. And you browser software developers who tie up my machine and make me lose cached pages and settings. And you router manufacturers that can't or won't fix bugs in firmware. (Not all of these people are likely to be members here, I'll admit.) And you monopolistic and anticompetitive banks and telecoms companies. And you colleagues who look at work I've spent weeks (and weekends) on and just raise unrelated concerns that we've gone over for months and can't fix, guys, deal with it. And all you people out there with dying relatives and other hardships that I'd like to be supportive of but ... can't. And you children who are given internet privileges and then get stroppy about staying up after bedtime; and worse, are given Paypal privileges and then dispute subscriptions you claim to have cancelled but obviously haven't, and get tearful when your mean* old dad tries to help out. And you little dogs dying of degenerative brain disorders. And you. And you.
Just stop.

Poor little JoePuggle. :comfort: Don't worry, there will be descriptions again, and the upgrade approacheth.
You know what would give you a feeling of reconnection? Rewriting the smiley hack as a 3.5 plug-in. With new features like an author field and a search for whole word only option. :shiftier:
Either that, or an avalanche of :squeezle:s. :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle: :squeezle:

You and me, buddy. I haven't been around much lately due to life and all that but it helps to be more discriminating about reading threads, so I guess I don't get all depressed or something.
But anyway, here's a hug for ya :manhug:

That does it!
Joe...You've got to quit your job. It's far more important that you keep up with things here at FF than it is keeping yourself fed, clothed and housed. You know that. And we know that. Now get on the stick and submit your resignation to those wage slave drivers.

I am so sorry Joe. How would it be if I quit work and devoted my full attention to cheering you up? :glomp2:

Done. I'm out.*
So, what sort of things cheer you up, then? Give us a hint.
Big glompy hugs? Worshipping? Teasing? Name-calling? Witch-hunts?
*The above statement only holds up if I am not offered a better job than the one I have right now, or if it turns out I can't maintain my current lifestyle on the dole.
Big glompy hugs? Yes!
Worshipping? Yes!
Teasing? Yes, as long as it ends up with ...
Name-calling? What names did you have in mind?
Witch-hunts? What's the witch wearing?
if it turns out I can't maintain my current lifestyle on the dole.I thought it was my lifestyle you were offering to maintain.

Worshipping? Yes!
Teasing? Yes, as long as it ends up with ... A ciggy?
Name-calling? What names did you have in mind? Oh, you know, the usual references to your grooming and eating habits, etc.
Witch-hunts? What's the witch wearing?A witch-uniform, of course. :glare:

Of course ... that's, um, ... what I meant.
btw, this (http://funny2.com/cute.htm) made me chuckle:
A woman longed for the pitter-patter of little feet, so she got a dog. It was cheaper, and she got more feet.
