This is an interesting episode of a call in radio programme that I have just found, which is vaguely connected to freethought since it discusses, in part, the declining attendance at churches in the UK.

That was brilliant!
Nice show. It seems though that several of the callers have a hard time deciding what their point is.
I like the one at the end that sounds like he's on an acid trip.
[eta: Hey wait, that's a spoof! I totally fell for it the first time. I blame it on American talk radio :P ]

[eta: Hey wait, that's a spoof! I totally fell for it the first time. I blame it on American talk radio :P ]Don't worry, plenty of British folks fell for it to, and there were sufficient complaints that the commissioning editor had to apologise. They had even gone so far as to list the programme as factual rather than comedy.
The show is written by Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson, who cowrote the Fast Show, with Harry Enfield and Catherine Tate, among others, lending their voice talents.

Damn, I was fooled too and I also blame Jerry Springer, et al.
I figured some of the callers were spoofing but I had no idea the whole thing was a sham. I have to say it's considerably less amusing to me now that I know it didn't develop organically. Still some pretty funny content, though.
There's an article about it here (http://media.guardian.co.uk/radio/story/0,,1773144,00.html).
