MAFIA Game Thread

[Spenser]

This Mafia consists of 14 players and the characters could be any of the following formats:

a) 3 mafia, 1 cop, 1 doc, rest townies
b) 3 mafia, 1 cop, rest townies
c) 3 mafia, 1 doc, rest townies
d) 3 mafia, rest townies



This version is a non-PMing version of the game.

Townie - a regular member of the town
Cop - can investigate one player per night and find out if they are mafia or not
Doctor - can protect one person per night from a mafia kill, no consecutive protections of the same player and no protecting themselves.



I as the GM will call nightfall when a solid consensus of votes has been reached 50% +1 vote, (So this game can be quick or long) and all game play occurs within the game thread. There is no discussions at night in the game thread. Any surviving Mafia can PM each other and mafia, the cop, and the doc all PM me there choices for a kill, investigation or protection. The game consists of the following players

The intro


The sun crawls up over the skyscrapers in Pitts-of-hell-berg. The Mormon Mafia have seen fit to take over the town, the evidence of their brutal ways is obvious when Spenser is found dead, his blood coating the sidewalk. He's been thrown threw his apartment window and fell 13 stories where he landed on his neighbors cat. The cat had to be rushed to the vet, poor Spenser didn't make it, but instead became your God. Bow down suckers!!!

The town is now in a panic and must do something to rid themselves of these thugs. Its time to weed out the scum. Please wait for your PMs telling you your role before posting, I'm sending them now. Feel free to PM me questions.

n00b suggestion #2 any player with a specialty role who is a vote or two away from lynching may want to out him/herself to the town. They are likely to die to the mob that night but at least you can attempt not to waste the lynching

I wasn't calling you out, in this game bandwagoning conveys 2 meanings. First is the way you are thinking, hopping on a vote because every one else is but also it seems to just describe the group of voters one person has trying to lynch them.

n00b suggestion #3 well, more of a freebie. God is more than likely to help the town of newer players with as many special roles as possible.

In mafia, WIFOM arguements are usually a Scum tactic used to distract the Town. The scum will make an unusual play at night, which would lead to a situation that would 'clear' them. Also, these arguments are often used by Newbies and should be avoided if possible, in favor of clearer arguments.

That's funny because there is a specialty role that can be assigned as follows:


Prostitute - At night the prostitute chose's one player to sleep with. That player cannot perform any night functions. The cop cannot investigate, the doctor cannot protect and the if its a lone Mafia member then there is no kill. If there are multiple Mafia members the others can still choose a victim.


And there are variations that can be added to this role.

After arguing profusely at a town meeting, is it Crumb, is it Adam, is it Smilin, is it just about every one; quiet bear strolls in late with a confident smile upon his face. A little too confident for the likes of this town. All focus is aimed his way and the town grabs him as he begins kicking and screaming pleading his innocence. They decided to lynch him the old Roman way, they stuff him into a bag with a monkey, a dog and a snake and throw him into the river.

Upon hitting the water drowning monkeys tend to freak out, quiet bear is left with the hope that maybe the snake will bite the monkey and not him, and hopefully the dog will eat the snake. Either way it doesn't matter, quiet bear, the townie, ain't gonna survive this one. Its nightfall folks, no more posting here. Mafia can PM each other and decide on a kill, the mob, cop and doc (which ever there are) can PM me their night choices or questions.

The sun rises over the town and Random Thoughts is found impaled on a stake that is holding him up 3 feet off the ground and on the outer wall of the local bank. Dressed in black pants, a white shirt and a black tie; obviously work of the Mormon Mob. A letter hanging around the neck says:

From the mafia point of view, they try to find the cop and kill them. By laying really low, they must have suspected it was Random Thoughts. I hope they aren't right!

They should be staying away from players we are accusing a lot and hope we kill ourselves off instead of them.

Of course not yet. They only have one view at this point and even if it is a mafia, it isn't enough yet. But at some point their information is more valuable out in the open than in secret.
I should add that if they did happen upon a mafioso during the night, that they are careful about accusing too hard lest they out themselves and get killed early before viewing any more or being able to see how the known mafia is acting with other players. Discretion is key.

It also occurs to me that we should know after death if Random Thoughts had any role or was a regular townie. Spenser?

It was all in fun just to initiate discussion which I achieved with it. I originally voted for Legs, but changed my mind with her campaign for quiet bear. Thus my vote for Legs now.
