View Full Version : What should Crumb's avatar be?
Crumb

A poll is on its way.

The arch is nice! Then I would put the tree/flag next in line.

I love that blue gradient Snoopy one so much. It definitely wins for me, although you might want to take out the X at this juncture.

I had to go with the monkey washing the cat. I love that one.

I picked Snoopy, I loved Snoopy's lazy posture and the blue gradient. That's the one which does it for me.

Agree about the Snoopy one. But, I have to also commend you on your album selections. Very good choices.

It's snoopy by a nose over the chimp.

A long nose. :pinocchio:
I'm apparently the only one, but I was always fond of the tree, although the monkey does make me smile.
Crumb
07-27-2006, 02:48 AM
It's not a monkey... :narrow:

Tree or monkey. Peanuts and Simpsons are overdone and Tom Petty's a fag.
When a chimp is used for comedic effect, it's a monkey, because 'monkey' is inherently a funnier word. You can look it up.

Come to think of it I'm kind of partial to the hovering bunny rabbit.

Arch? That's not an arch. That's a holey rock!
I'm a Bart fan. I personally think that Crumb should have a Bart avatar with Bart wearing the green viser of the poker master...as acknowledgement of his role in the betting here at ff.

I happen to think Crumb should pick the avatar he likes most irrespective of what we think. It is his representation of himself to this board. As such, he should choose whatever image he damn well feels like choosing.
D. Scarlatti
07-27-2006, 04:06 AM
Good point. Crumb damn well shouldn't have asked.
Crumb
07-27-2006, 04:08 AM
Crumb just damn well wanted too.

07-27-2006, 04:10 AM
So is that a hovering bunny rabbit or what?
Joshua Adams
07-27-2006, 04:10 AM
To take it a step further, he shouldn't have been allowed to ask. Whatever happened to valuing personal freedom of choice?

I really like that one, actually. I think it needs a little more contrast, though, in its avatar-sized form.

Good point. Crumb damn well shouldn't have asked.
It looks like my comment did not come out right. Let me rephrase it in a hopefully more effective manner. While Crumb is more than welcome to solicit the opinions of others, I happen to think that ultimately it is his choice to choose what avatar to go with. As such, I think it in that scenario it would make sense for him to choose the one he likes most even if it isn't necessarily one that most popular to the poll respondents. It is for that reason I picked "Other" as my option and chose to explain my rationale. I think he should choose the one he likes most even if it isn't one we may like.

I like Legs' "Crumb" one too. :yup:
However you'll always be a cat washing chimp to me, so that's how I voted.
ETA: In case it wasn't obvious that was meant to be funny, not mean.

I added in a yellow one too, just because it was bugging me not to have all 3 primary colors. :blush2:
ETA: Whoa! You're blue! Too, too cute. :applaud:

I changed it just a bit. Getting away from the square look. :runinbox:

Okay...I kinda liked the cookie crumb Crumb, but in use....well....with your username and the scrolling Crumb and Cascadia festoonery it's beginning to look like you've bought into the worst of Madison Avenue.
It's overkill.
Too many Crumbs!

Good choice. Now make it cycle through all the different colors.
Just for clarity, I didn't make that crumb pic, Ijust found it on the web somewhere.:google:
It originally said CRUMBS (I cut the S off)
Crumb
07-27-2006, 03:56 PM
:cohnoes: You cut my S off! :panic:
Thanks Legsy, it was a great find. :squeezle:

Hmm you have a point there, godfry. I guess I should loose the Crumb in the sig.
Good choice. Now make it cycle through all the different colors.

I voted for the chimp washing the cat but I like the idea of the cycling, different colored "crumb" avatars.. but with the same amount of space above and below "crumb" and preferably in a square.

Yeah and maybe add an "S" to the end.

Oh, I meant to point out yesterday, Crumb, that the original avatar was shorter than it was wide and therefore already a rectangle. :yup:

 @ Spenser (It's not Harry Crumb though.)
What would be the best would be to have the circle with the colors. :yup: But I won't make anyone do all that work for me. Thanks for the help, I think I will go with the colors for now.

Just having some fun, Crumb. It takes a community to get Crumb and avatar! :)
livius drusus
07-27-2006, 09:32 PM
Okay, here it is as a full circle. The overall image is much smaller this way and it's nowhere near as cool as PW's fisheye with highlights and other such neatness, but what the hey.

Can you include brown in the color rotation?
I do like what you've done with the sig. The scrolling flags are tasteful, and I always love to see the golden beaver displayed with pride.
