Hope you like them. :)
This is around one of the more thermal areas around Lake Rotorua (though pretty much the whole region is technically a bubbling caldera), and the strange colour and opacity of the water is due to sulphur and silica.

And this is a bit further around at the 'lakefront', taken at dusk with a long shutter.

Late afternoon, and some kids were riding their horses at Rotorua Pony Club grounds.

Thank you! :vibes:
Lady Shea, my dog sure was happy that day. He even rolled gaily in some foul smelling dead thing and I pretty much retched all the way home with him, while he grinned gleefully.

What such lovely photos, made me want to fly over to New Zealand at this very moment and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.

Yup. Why I love the stinky beast so much, I'll never know!

Thanks! But you don't want to come right away; it's winter and it's too cold. :shiver:

The sky in the third picture is too gorgeous. I love the composition of that picture. They're all beautiful pictures of beautiful subjects. The lighting in each of them so rich and diverse they're almost like paintings of different mediums.
Oh, and your dog kicks ass.

Thanks, liv. And yes, my dog does kick ass. I've got him really well trained, too: one word from me, and he does exactly as he pleases! :D

Thanks, guys. I'l post more tomorrow. For now, though, it's after 4am and I'm going to have to crash soon, methinks.
Crumb: I love taking pics at night. Just play around with shutter speeds and your ISO settings and you'll be amazed at what comes out. You will need a tripod though, because hands aren't usually staedy enough to hold a camera perfectly still for 10 seconds! (And don't use the flash, either.) Good luck! :)

I love the pics, Pepper! Look at all the birds in the first two!
The lakefront pic is my favorite, though. The colors came out fantastic!
Ooh, slurp. The dusk shots, esp #3, are beautiful, and I love the light on the horse.
In the first two, what birds are those? Gulls? At first glance they're just like flocks of flamingos, gathered around the magins of sulphur lakes in Africa.

I'm beaming, I must say. :beaugest:
Thanks for the kudos, guys; it's very encouraging for a beginner like me.

Yup, they're just everyday seagulls. For some reason they like it there.
Now, Africa is a place to love to travel with a great big fuck-off camera that can zoom in for miles and miles....
Hmmm...I might buy a lottery ticket tomorrow, y'know. :coin:

The lakefront (3rd) photo has an incredible composition of light and color which almost negates any need for the actual 'real' subject of the image. Adding in the emotional pull of the view of a lakefront night scene and it's a slamdunk for me.
I think the light quality on the horse in the copper afternoon is gorgeous.

Yeah. I know how you feel, quiet bear. Except IIRC, the photos you've posted have been wonderful and very impressive. The latest photo I took was from my dipstick camera phone of a flock of undead rubber duckies floating in my pool.

Oh, man. High praise indeed for the third pic! Thank you. :vibes:
Quiet bear, I loved the pictures you posted. I very much enjoy looking at what people see in their environments and daily life, and I enjoyed your walk immensely. :)
pesci, nothing wrong with rubber duckies (http://www.dpchallenge.com/challenge_results.php?CHALLENGE_ID=326)!
