I just watched this movie, it is just fucking awesome, a really great movie. scary and fucked up and comparisons to Seven are inevitable Saw generally lives up to the billing. I am going to avoid spoilage but trust me when I say that the movie does great things with twists and perspectives.

at times, yeah. definitely. It also has some seriously disturbing imagery more in line with seven than slasher flicks. I would have to say that it is more graphic than seven.

Hmm... I might have to catch it on DVD then on account of my tendency to want to get up and run away. I don't actually run away, mind you, but I definitely get up and pace around and freak out and sit back down, which makes for some pretty anti-social movie theater behavior.

Seems perfectly normal to me. I think all movie theaters should have pacing and freaking areas when they show gory flicks. The moans and wails just blend in with the movie action anyway.

That would be so cool. A nice freak out area with rubber floors and padded walls would be a perfect addition to those big fancy movie places where you sit in captain's chairs and semi-nude waiters bring you dinner.

Oh, erm, sorry... I seem to have conflated my imagination with reality again.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago in the middle of a 24-hour movie marathon. I really liked it, which surprised me a little bit. The whole serial killer genre is so tired now that it's hard for a movie to seem fresh or original. Even Se7en loses most of its impact now because it's impossible to forget about all the tired imitators. I really appreciated how Saw's story is engaging enough that you don't spend the whole movie wondering what the twist is going to be, which never happens with lesser examples like The Bone Collector. Still, I don't think Hollywood can produce too many more good serial-killer flicks. The material is just too worn out.
