Bits and PCs - a Computers and Tech Miscellany

We don't seem to have a miscellany thread related to tech although we have miscellaneous other miscellany threads apart from the miscellany thread.

So here it is.

The miscellaneous finding I wanted to post is this:
The http protocol (you know, the one that's the backbone of the web, famous for 404 errors :404: ) has a separate error code for Unavailable For Legal Reasons. The protocol equivalent of "this video is not available in your country".

The error code is 451.

Is this where I complain about how slow my Windows 10 laptop is compared to my Windows 10 Alienware computer?

No, you want the grumpy old retired man thread.

I think that the main reason why I never adopted Pyhton as a scripting language is that I can never, ever type it correctly (including in this sentence. :( ).

Re: Bits and PCs - a Computers and Tech Miscellany

$ pyhton
No command 'pyhton' found, did you mean:
Command 'python' from package 'python-minimal' (main)

I finally bought a PC this year. The last one I bought was in 2000. On that one, at least I had a system software disk to load if my software ate itself.

Now, don't have a clue what to do when my software gets stuffed.

Perhaps we should create a blockchain start up called BoogerCoin that works on a similar principle.

Mining for boogers = mining for BoogerCoins!

Seeing as people were trying to buy PonziCoin with their Equifax Grade Security, I say cash the fuck in.

I don't even know if I have anything vulnerable but I'm going to reboot everything that even resembles a router tonight and look for firmware updates.

Assuming you bought a big brand name PC they almost always include software for creating your own recovery disks nowadays.

Misleading headline.

Quote:

advised users of affected router models to perform a factory reset, or at a minimum to reboot.
The core of the malware in question survives a reboot. I haven't seen a claim that the photobucket account and the knowitall dot com or whatever fallback domain are the only channels it has.
