HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
 

OH FUCK THIS. WHOLE NEW THREAD because I want to make sure you all have to know.

I kind of ran my hands through my hair, and ONE OF MY HEAD HAIRS POKED ALL THE WAY INTO MY FINGERTIP.

I am not lying.

It was easily in there 1/4 inch deep. It somehow poked through the skin on my finger and embedded itself all the way in, so that I had this long piece of hair sticking out of my finger.

It hurt a bit, but moreso it was CREEPY, and I had to pull it out slowly and I could feel it the whole way and WHAT THE FUCK.

I am incapacitated and traumatized. I have a few times somehow gotten Zsa Zsa's hairs stuck in my foot kind of like that, but she has relatively coarse fur, and it never got in that deep.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN and WHY ME?

Either you have very stiff hair or very delicate skin. Or maybe a bit of both.

I've never had that happen with human or dog hair (probably not with any hair at all).

Possibilities:
It wasn't a hair, it was one of the antennae for the government-installed thought-monitoring devices installed under the scalp of subversives like yourself.
It was a hair, but you use some freaky hair products or you got some paint or glue on it making it extra stiff and stabby.
It wasn't from your head, it's been in your finger for days and you didn't notice. Matlock probably put it there.
It didn't really happen. You just think it did because the reality simulation is overloaded.

I don't get it, either.

I thought it was weird when I started getting ZZ's hairs in my foot, but I figured she just has coarse fur and I walk around barefoot a lot. And I looked up hair splinters, and I guess dog groomers get them a lot.

But never my own hair before! And it was in there really really deep too. I once dated a machinist who measured the girth of one of my hairs for some reason and told me it was really fat, so I guess that's a factor. But why hasn't it happened before? And how is the skin on my fingers and my feet specifically becoming so permeable?

Maybe someone put a hex on me to slowly turn me into a porcupine? That would explain a lot of things.

Well, as we age, our hairs become thinner. If you're over the age of 30, then it's pretty-much a certainty that the hairs you're producing today are thinner than the coarse hairs you produced as a youth.

Simultaneously, the skin becomes thinner and less resistant as we age. Sadly, none of us is as thick-skinned and thick-haired today as we were in our youths.

The skin part I understand, but if my hair is individually thinner, it makes even less sense. I should clarify that it was not going in sideways, like it was sitting under a single thin layer of skin. It was stuck directly in the middle of my finger pad, like Excalibur. Or like a really long hair growing directly out of my finger, I guess.

And I pulled it out really carefully and slowly to avoid breaking it off in there, starting by gripping at the base so I saw how much came out. It may have been bent at some juncture, but at the penetration point, it went straight down into the fat part of my finger.

Here is an artist's rendition of what it looked like, where the teal section is my educated guess as to what it looked like on the inside of my finger, even allowing for a bend at some point.

Trust me, if this had been something relatively normal that I could rationalize with any confidence, I wouldn't have mentioned it at all, much less made a whole thread about it.

It was horrifying and I am going to be reliving it for the rest of my days.

Is it possible you had an unknown bloodless paper cut or pin prick that the hair just happened to slip into? Or maybe a microscopic wormhole?
