Sparking Up in Canuckistan

So....Canucks?

Have you stocked up on lighters?

It's next Wednesday, y'know?

I'd recommend stocking in a goodly supply of Timbits, too.

And remember....Don't bogart that joint, my friend, pass it over to me!

Now you'll be more than just one toque over the line.

:nudge:

Foreign nationals are apparently required to observe US law while in their respective countries. You know, legislation without representation. Or something.

Cannabis and the border: what pot-smoking Canadians need to know - CBC

Quote:

Each day, 400,000 Canadians cross the Canada-U.S. border. Beginning Oct. 17, 2018, more and more of those travellers could be forced to answer an uncomfortable question posed by wary American customs officers: Have you ever smoked pot?

Those who tell the truth risk being banned from the United States for life and might have to apply for special waivers in order to visit the U.S. in future.
So, no.

Re: Sparking Up in Canuckistan

I'm not sure why you might want to hide the fact that you consume something which is entirely legal in Canuckistan when the troglodytic Merkins are just living in the past. Whether one has consumed in the past is irrelevant to crossing the border today.

What is important is that no cannabis is crossing the border untaxed....that's what they got my friends for. Failure to pay the tax on the cannabis found in their vehicle crossing back in to the United States. At the Blaine crossing...long before even medical marijuana was 'acceptable'. They paid the taxes, and the fine, and got their impounded vehicle back, no record, no foul, no lid. Good clean-cut Merkin white boys. It might be different for Canucks.

Crossing a border can be awful in any direction and there's horror stories going both ways. Often it depends on if the agent decides they don't like your face.

I've mused for half an hour on how to reply to this and not sound like a jerk. :) The CBC link above is a good overview of the concerns going around right now, and we'll see in about a week if there's a measurable drive to end all tourism to the US from Canada. In a nutshell, have ever used a substance illegal in the US? "Deemed inadmissible."

ETA: I realize the thrad was supposed to be celebratory, sorry to be a Debbie Downer.

My workplace executed a new Drug Policy 3 days ago that we all had to sign. Managers running around like crazy trying to collect them.

Okay, screw it, the link works but the edit button is gone and the usual fix either ain't working or I'm trying too fast while people are shouting in the background.

If the thrad is fukt, Mod pls delete prior post.

I swear I'm not stoned.

Did somebody fixed it?

Looks fynne to me.

Re: Sparking Up in Canuckistan

Are you seeing any of the buttons (Edit, Quote, Thanks, etc.) at the bottom?

Because they're not showing up for me. They're doing that sketchy thing where they stick a script in the header to generate a bunch of bullshit instead of the title of the article, and it appears to have wiped out our own buttons.

Re: Sparking Up in Canuckistan

No buttons at the bottom. The link goes to the right place on my device. The fixit directions for that only gave me a blank page. But the thrad isn't blown up so that's good.

I see all the usual buttons.

Re: Sparking Up in Canuckistan

Could you edit it, then, so that the link just has the article title instead of all that navigation crap? Assuming that's OK with Kamilah?

It just super-bugs me when sites decide to hijack people's links to add a bunch of shit people didn't intend to post.

I'll have to try to figure out why it's messed up for me.

Edit: LOLOLOLOL I only just noticed that a bunch of those links are relative paths, so they're pointing to nonexistent pages on FF, rather than the CBC ones they're supposed to link to. So they're not just being assholes, but incompetent assholes.

I'm morbidly curious what modifications a personality like JoeP would make to the headline, myself.

Also interested in if it's a browser issue if JoeP sees edit buttons and we don't.

Safari on iOS here, on the road today so can't try a desktop.

They're not showing up for me on Firefox on Debian or Brave on Android, so it's probably not that.

I'm just waiting for one of you clowns to stop and ask,

"Hey, what do you think this button does?"

I have an inkling of the kind of things which could occur at that point.

So does JoeP.

OK, I'm going in. Just in case it results in me deleting my own account (godfry knows whereof I speak), or borking the entire :ff: beyond repair, be it known that I was only following orders.
