The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

I've heard great things about this show and they're not wrong. I binged it this weekend and I wish season 2 was available.

What's it all about then? What's it like? Who's in it?

Don't make me reach for Google.

So one of our younger IRL friends who does seem to have good taste (we all went to TMBG together) recently suggested it as well.

I feel like I should watch it now.

A number of big character actors whose names nobody knows, and it's about a housewife who decides to become a stand-up comedian in 1958. It's a sweet, funny, dramatic, period piece with some Emmy noms (and/or Emmy's, can't be fucked to check).

Alex Borstein plays her agent. Every time I hear her talk, I pick out some Lois Griffin from Family Guy.

I second or third or whatever the recommendation. It is quite good.

I've been flirting with the idea of watching this mostly because Amy Sherman-Palladino is the creator, and Gilmore Girls (except maybe the reboot season) was awesome; additionally the lead actor Rachel Brosnahan in this new series did a great job in House of Cards and The Blacklist.

Both good reasons, and it doesn't disappoint on those counts. I reckon the writing is sharper than Gilmore Girls - which is saying something - and Rachel Brosnahan delivers.
