That’s right, Shermer is so fucking stupid and non skeptical that he just Godwinned all over the place and took that Nazi has ‘socialism’ in it as proof that modern socialism is bad and socialists are dangerous violent people.
Sure Shermer says he’s a Libertarian but since we all know libertarians are just conservatives who like drugs it’s going here. And sure he’s also proven himself a psuedo-intelectual plenty of times before but this is just funny.
Shermer loves to claim himself a skeptic and a scientist which only adds evidence to my view that if someone calls themselves something at every turn till being a ____ merges with their public persona, then they’re almost certainly a scam artist using a well know technique to provide false authority to their statements. If only the world were more like skeptics they wouldn’t fall for shit like this... oh wait.
As expected Shermer has since deleted the tweet and gone on a mansplain of how everyone took it wrong that even though he literally said Nazis are far left, he didn’t mean they were really far left, just that socialism is bad em kay, and...
I assume what he’s trying to say is “Careful you could become the thing you despise!” Only he cocked it up so bad, a ton of his emotional baggage and biases just fell out instead.
