My brother teaches Scratch for KS3 kids (those aged 11-14 in the UK) and he thinks it's a brilliant way to get kids doing basic programming. My niece was putting together little animations in it last week, and seemed to be having fun.
I have to have a soft-spot for anything that's built off Smalltalk.
