The exchanges always seemed like a really, really bad place to park your money.

Bitcoin is a cash equivalent. It's like handing your wallet to a stranger and expecting them to give you cash when you need it.

If, for some crazy reason, I wanted some bitcoins, I might go to an exchange, transfer dollars for bitcoins, and them load them into local storage just as quick as I could.
