The big difference, of course, being that for all his faults, Chávez
actually was a populist, whereas Trump just plays one on TV. Chávez definitely had a tendency towards demagoguery, too, though, and the parallels there are definitely alarming. At the same time, Chávez was much more competent and, frankly, smarter than Trump.
