Mrs. S and I renewed our vows nearly 10 years ago, after 33 1/3 years. (Our granddaughter was at the perfect flower-girl age, desperately wanted to be a flower-girl--to the point where she was calling her aunt and uncles to see if they were about to get married, so that she could be their flower girl--and her aunt and uncles were not cooperating. So Mrs. S and I rented the amphitheatre in the local park and invited all of our friends and relatives.) We asked them to wear Renaissance garb. The officiant (pictured below) did a dead-on impression of the cleric from "Princess Bride," and opened the ceremony with the first several lines from the movie. We cribbed the rest of our ceremony from the wedding of a couple of friends. (I have no clue whether they wrote it themselves, but they cheerfully provided it to us for the occasion.) It included vows of support from our friends and family. The marriage vows themselves read:
