Just got back from a short vacation to Vermont and upstate New York with the kid. We had a great time -- nice way to end the summer vacation before going back to teaching the ute of America Monday.
We stayed in a hotel with an elevator in downtown Brattleboro, saw some super-cool historical sites around Lake Champlain (Fort Ticonderoga, Crown Point), stayed in a cabin and went to a water park in the Adirondacks. We also deftly thwarted a foraging black bear from opening our car door while we were sleeping that night by -- locking the car doors.
The kid's placement status is still up in the air as ex-Mrs. KA lawyered-up at our last hearing. That hasn't really hurt my case, as she has continued to ignore all the concerns that are the basis of my case for placement and has been a total F-star-star c*** to me this entire summer. That and the fact that she lives in a three-ring circus and I don't is also a big plus for my case. September 21 is our next hearing...keep reminding myself that no matter what happens, things will only improve for me, as there are no orders in effect regarding visitation atm and at the minimum from my pov I will get a fair schedule in writing. Best case scenario, the kid moves back in with me and she'll visit the ex who will have to start paying me support. My lawyer isn't charging me any more than he was going to when he was going to draft be a voluntary visitation/support agreement between us last year. Nice to have a friend who is also a lawyer!
