I think I got my look at the future. I drove across the metro area to pick up my last set of chicks this morning. I stopped and picked up some breakfast and after, while pulling out of the shopping center lot onto the public thoroughfare, the driver ahead of me was weaving all over the exit lane. I slowed and watched for what might be a medical problem...I didn't know, as the driving was pretty extreme, except for speed. It finally pulled out onto the street and turned right, continuing the wild weaving across two lanes now. I had to turn right as well but kept well back...

Finally, the car seemed to pull to the side of the road and came to rest with one front tire against the curb. I carefully passed the car, only to see the driver...female...totally absorbed in the item she held in her hand...while she feverishly keyed in some kind of message...seemed to read...and then began keying again.

I think I've just witnessed my first driver text messaging.

Just how stupid does a citizen have to be before they deny them a driver's license?
