The New York
Times sez that the leading candidates for the empty SCOTUS seat are William Pryor, Neil Gorsuch and Thomas Hardiman, all U.S. Court of Appeals judges. I don't know a goddamn thing about Hardiman. Pryor would be a nightmare, voting even more Scalia-like than Scalia (Pryor would be more reliably wingnutty on constitutional criminal procedure matters). Gorsuch is not nearly as crazy, and would likely be fairly easy to get confirmed.
