Makes sense to me. I know I always prefer to read with an edge on view of the page.

To JoeP: While I didn't go to school in Quebec, here in San Diego I had a teacher who also thought that my quietly reading in class was potentially "disruptive". She then proved it by walking over and physically wrenching the books from my hands. Coincidentally, I was the same age at the time as this little girl, in second grade.

She would hand out work packets at once for the whole day that I would finish off in under an hour. So for the rest of the time, I thought it best to just quietly read, but that proved more than she could take. She also objected to what I was reading, because she said it wasn't "age-appropriate". In other words, my reading level was more advanced than other students, and I should be taken to task for reading classic mystery, adventure, and suspense tales instead of whatever Scholastic Press deemed fit for students aged 6-8. My parents had the same fight with the local library, which wanted me to only check out books from the "Children's Room".
