Oh, and in related news, the Trump Administration has been busily rescinding Obama-era restrictions on the sorts of military equipment that police departments are allowed access to. Because of course your local police department has a pressing need for grenade launchers -- and will never, ever be tempted to mis-use them.

A few years back a DJ from a local radio station got a photo of an armored personnel carrier with Jefferson County Sheriff's Department painted all over it. The guy posted the photo on his Facebook page with a message along the lines of "WTF why does the JeffCo Sheriff have a tank?!" The Sheriff's Office responded with something like, "Oh calm down ya big babies. It's not a tank, it's just an APC, and it didn't cost us anything."

I mean, how can you possibly expect the police to protect and serve without a complete array of fully automatic weapons, grenade launchers and armored vehicles?
