Injuries continue to mount.
Ballack is set to miss the opener (and he's Germany's best player).
Italy and the Czechs both seem to have injury woes -- Nedved is hurt, Smicer is out, Nesta, Gattusso, and Zambrotta are all battling fitness worries. This bodes well for the U.S., although Italy's depth means that the drop-off is not great. The U.S., meanwhile, is healthy (although we can assume that Claudio Reyna will get injured withing 10 or 15 minutes of taking the pitch, like he always does.).
