Disgusting. I'm reminded of something that William Adama pointed out on
Battlestar Galactica: Police are [ideally] trained to serve and protect the public. It's a terrible idea to use the military as a police force, because military personnel are trained to seek out and destroy the enemy. So inevitably, if you try to use the military as a police force [or train your police officers as if they were military personnel], they'll think of the public as an enemy to be subdued, not as people they should be serving and protecting.
