Default Re: The Car Of The Day (For My Amusement.)

That Studebaker Avanti has similar lines to one of my favourites: the Jenson Interceptor.

For those of you who've not heard of it, the Jenson was a British GT car built in West Bromwich in the 60s. For power it used a seven litre Chrysler engine (440 in USA parlance). The top of the range model, the FF (pictured) was the first GT car ever to have permanent four wheel drive and anti lock brakes - years ahead of Audi or anyone else. In FF SP form (SP stood for the 6-pack carburettors) it made 385 bhp.

It was really much too thirsty for 70s Britain (remember gas here cost about seven times as much as in the USA) and the main production stopped in 1976, though one-offs are still being built to this day.
