Hey Jesus Lawyer, how long until you get called on the passive aggressive crap and then go in to martyr mode?

Oh look, it's already happened.

You're just flailing about wildly now, Michael. It sucks when people don't care to hear what you have to say, and moreso when they make a big show of ignoring you. I get it. But the essence of your argument: that a free press isn't really free unless having the paper delivered is mandatory for all citizens, is plainly ridiculous.

I didn't say you weren't making sense or that you're incoherent, I said you were flailing about. This is the post I was referring to:

How is that an answer to anything anyone posted? Did someone accuse you of having bad intentions? Do you think it follows logically that if something hurts your feelings people shouldn't have the right to do it? Do you have any point with this thread other than to lash out at the people who boasted about having you on ignore (ironically, the few people who probably can't see this thread)?

You should work in a movie theater rather than a TV station. That way, you'd at least get paid for constantly projecting. I really don't care whether you're nice or nasty, it just seems like you should make up your addled mind on whether you're one or the other.

actually...i did have a point and to make a joke. i wanted to bring up the ignroe feature, having just been a victim to it. i think it makes an interesting topic of debate...

and what i wrote makes sense. i am trying to show how using the ignore feature limits you and has nothing to do with tolerance. how do you learn to ignore using your own will...when you can always rely on a button? you might not like some things a person says, but by choosing to ignore everything...which is what the ignore feature does...you don't see my point?

well anyhow...

lol...good one. i am both nice and nasty. it's not about making up my mind, but learning to embrace what i am. yeah...that sounded really lame...

You might start by figuring out how to reconcile your impulse toward being a Bad Boy with your desperate need for everybody to like you.

Have you seen the title of the thread? And the OP? Then little gems like this:
Quote:
i am entitled full access to everybody here. it is up to them to just ignore me. using a tool to help accomplish that strips your own freedom from learning tolerance.
Quote:

Um...ok. I think people get pissed off when you call them weak for no clear or explicable reason. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that you are entitled to an audience for everything you say.

There are vast quantities of information available in the world, online, from the tv, from books, coworkers, etc, and everyone has to make decisions about what sources of information to spend their time on every day. If a certain magazine, tv channel or person consistently aggravates me, I'm going to stop tuning in. Yes, of course in doing so I might miss something really important or interesting. But given limited resources and a desire for something more than a brain full of random nonsense, that's a risk I just have to take.

ummm...that ain't me you're talking about. now who's projecting?

my words, but it's the voice inside your own head you hear reading them back. i am a bad boy who does good things. i honestly don't care who likes me...i care about fair treatment and being bullied. you read more into me than is there...your voice. :)

lol...that is all just silly. at least i realize i am an armchair psychiatrist...you assuredness about my intentions as filtered through your own brain...youre wrong. lol...what a dork. yeah...that's an insult. perhaps you should examine your own behaviour before calling somebody on theirs.

what do you think about the ignore feature? oh wait...you never mentioned that. what a team player you are, coming in like that :)

lol...

Yeah, I don't give a shit about the ignore feature. This is just one of your typical threads.

insult (I'm better than you because I don't use the ignore feature)
Gosh, sorry lol
another insult ("some of you need a lesson in what freedom really is.")
omg ur insulting me because i am standing my ground

When do we get the conciliatory thread that usually follows? The one with the photo in the OP.

Disapprove Re: People Who Use The Ignore Feature Are Weak

Look Michael, the concept of freethought is all about being able to express your ideas and opinions freely, it DOES NOT entail a willing audience for you. We're equally free to listen to you and dismiss your opinions on whatever grounds we care to bring up. You're also equally free to argue about whether our grounds have any validity. But in no way does freethought mean we're required to take you seriously.

I don't go around celebrating who's on my ignore list or what other ignoring actions I've taken. It's my personal choice that have no bearing on your own personal environment, other than perhaps making you pause for a bit to reconsider your delivery techniques.

Imagine you're at a piazza, you're free to set up a soapbox and speak about whatever you've got to say to all who's within the earshot range or visual range. If nobody pays any attention to you or if you managed to empty the entire piazza, then you've got nobody but yourself to blame.

Back in Regency times, ignoring somebody was called "the cut direct". In those days, an active insult could lead to a duel. So if you hated somebody, you simply refused to acknowledge his or her existance.

One day, Beau Brummel was out riding in the park. The Prince of Wales was feuding with Brummel, and refused to acknowledge their acquaintance. Brummel met up with two of his friends, who were with the Prince. As Brummel chatted with his friends, the Prince pointedly ignored him. So Brummel casually asked his friends, "By the way, who is your fat friend?"

I have many weaknesses. So does everyone else.

One of my weaknesses, for example, is fear. I am fearful much of the time and afraid of many, many things. I have come to the belated conclusion that much of the focus of "self-help" on "overcoming" fear, or trying to make fear go away, is misguided and futile. I take my cue from David K. Reynolds, who acknowledges that fear is there, and that it is often useful. AND, WHILE BEING AFRAID, I can still go ahead and do the things that I need to do. I don't need to cure my fear or make it go away, or spend my efforts on that futile endeavor. All I need to do is, while being afraid, go ahead and to the constructive actions I need to do.

Same thing with weakness for me. If something is a weakness for me, that is OK, as long as I can continue to do the actions I need to do to get done the things I need to do.
