Easter?

Can I check something out? This is the holiday where we acknowledge that this dude Jesus was betrayed, arrested, tried, scouraged, driven through town carrying a cross and then subsequently nailed to that same cross and left in the sun to die? Then, he was taken down and placed in a tomb, from whence he arises from the dead and leaves the tomb? It's that story, right?

So, my question is, after he rises from the dead and steps out of the tomb, is it "six more weeks of winter" if he sees his shadow, or if he doesn't?

I am Jewish. Technically, doesn't that mean that I'm simply a heathen, rather than a heretic?

Most people here would be either heathens (not Christian or Jewish, sorry ShottleBop but Jews don't get to be heathens) or apostates (those who formally denounce or leave the faith). Heretics are those who hold beliefs within the faith that differ from official doctrine, from something as central as who is or is not the Messiah to what date the celebration of a given holiday should actually take place.

I think we've just got Angakuk to cover that angle.

Doesn't Heathenism imply that you follow some kind of religion? Just not one that the person calling you a heathen likes?

Heathen pretty much just means "anyone who isn't Christian or Jewish," but like Pagan it has some connotations of "backward country bumpkin whom the light of God (and thence civilization) hasn't reached" to it.

I've not seen anything suggesting Angakuk is a heretic any more than any other Christian. I'm pretty sure I'm technically not a heretic either, although my total lack of concern on the question probably strikes some as heretical.

I think 'Heathen' would anyone outside the religion that is applying the label.

A 'Pagan' is one who worships nature, in the woods, outside a "civilized" setting, - a Church building.

That's only because you think your beliefs should be the 'Official Doctrine' and everyone else is wrong.
