Default What is your modding poilcy on thread splits ?

Out of provoked interest, do you have a modding policy when and where you do thread splits ?

No written policy, but as a general rule we'll only split a thread at the request--or with the permission of--the thread author. Unless we have reason to believe the OP author won't have any objection.

I ask because most of all this thread could well use a split, and needs it,

As I said on that thread I think the on-topic and off-topic comments are unfortunately pretty thoroughly entangled there, so I'm not even sure which posts it would make sense to split. But hopefully the derailment is largely over now.
