Why did I do it?
Here’s a partial list of common rationalizations (why did I do it?), based on my own thoughts.
Direct: I just did it. That’s all.
Compelled: I did it because I couldn’t help myself.
Guarded: I did it for my own reasons.
Regretful: I see now I shouldn't have done it.
Revisionist: I'll do it better next time.
Self denial: I didn't do it.
Paranoiac: Who said I did it.
Humorous: I was just trying to be funny.
There are probably even more, but these are all I have for now.

Now that I think this could be made an infinite list: I did it for love hate, I was thirsty, I am stupid, I was drunk, for the money, etc...
I think it can be made much simpler if you grouped all the rationalizations into largers categories.
Self-interest: I did it because I needed or wanted something.
To help: I did it to help out another person.
No benefit: I did it without thinking.
Mutual: We did it together. Everybody wins.
