Re: Southern-fried Watser?
Hehehehe, yeah I do but my brother's GF keeps pronouncing it as Green.
Yeah, I've met some of her friends from Texas who are travelling here now and they all keep talking about how I definitely have to go to Gruene Hall. So yeah, that's on the list.
I wish we had more time for this trip, but I guess it would take months to really see everything that would be worth seeing, if not years...

Re: Southern-fried Watser?
I may be mistaken, but that looks more like a cayman to me. The snout is too slender for a gator.

Re: Southern-fried Watser?
Nope, that's a bona fide American Alligator in the wetlands of Gulf Shores. We don't have wild Caiman here.

Re: Southern-fried Watser?
That's odd, I thought there were some in the US but wiki says, 'no.' Also, I spelled it right to start with and the spell checker complained.

That's due to Cayman Islands being the most common use of the word
There are some caiman in S. Florida. They aren't native though, they're descended from captives that got released to the wild, and probably the genesis of the "pet alligator in the sewer" urban legends.

It didn't complain about the lack of capitalization, however.

O K, to recover from my earlier faux pas, here is a picture of the BeNeLux Mafia in the Big Apple.

In her defense, that is how they pronounce it there, but I was making fun of it. What do you expect from a state that pronounces Boerne as burny and Fredricksburg as fred-er-icks-berg, not to mention Plano as Play-no and Iraan as Ira-Ann?

Re: Southern-fried Watser?
Hell, they pronounce Fuqua as Fyoo-kyoo-uh. That's just all kinds of wrong. Technically I suppose it should be Foo-kah, but in my heart it will always be Fuckwah.
I've heard Gruene pronounced Green and even Groony. I took enough German in high school to know how it's supposed to be pronounced, but I'm not going to correct a drunken redneck.

Re: Southern-fried Watser?
Are you some sort of apologist for evil animals? Speargun toting octopi and now Dutchmen eating gators... I bet you're a riot when Jaws is playing on the TV.
