Luna eclipse Sep 27 / 28 2015
I posted about this in a thread Bob started in philosophy - but in case you ignore his threads, here's a heads up.
You can see it in the eastern USA, and maybe see part of it even in the west.
September 27 / September 28, 2015 - Total Lunar Eclipse - Where and when to see
The moon at the moment is closer than usual to earth, so the moon appears bigger making the viewing of the eclipse even more impressive than usual.

The clouds were thin enough here that we could see it, but it's all over now. It seems the estimate of the time was a bit off, it happened earlier that I thought it would.

Blood red? More like a The Martian advert.

Apparently it cleared up, I saw a bit of it before I went to bed. Didn't look red from here then, just a full moon with a bite out of it.

Yeah you only really see the red colour once it's more or less totally eclipsed. The 'bite' part would have been red but the white part still directly illuminated by the sun is so much brighter that you can't see the dark part with the naked eye till the white part is non-existent - or at least tiny.

I went out with a bunch of students and we watched it for an hour or so. Unfortunately, it was pretty cloudy, but we got occasional glimpses through breaks in the clouds.
Not a bad way to spend an evening.

Hmmm, sitting out in the dark with a group of college students, sounds exciting, I hope you were keeping a close watch on them, I was in college and I know what college students get up to in the dark. Once there was a concert (warm weather) on the football field and along one side was a bank where students would sit to watch a game, the band was set up on the other side. At one point a member of the band made an announcement, "To the couple on the bank, It's not as dark as you think."
BTW, how is the new school working out, are the students any better than at the previous school?

It's a great improvement, that's for sure. It's not that it's perfect or anything, but almost anyplace would be better than where I had been teaching.
Students who are here because they actually want to be (for the most part, anyway) and who treat their instructors with respect. An Administration that supports the Faculty rather than trying to undermine their authority at every turn.
What a difference that makes!

I can only imagine, but I sometimes wonder how things would have worked out if I had the kind of students that you seem to have. Would I have quit teaching when I did, or would I have taught till I retired? Of course I was teaching Jr. HS and most of the students didn't want to be there, they had to be there, and some of the parents were not at all supportive of education.

Re: Luna eclipse Sep 27 / 28 2015
We had excellent weather for this and it was beautiful! I didn't expect it to be so dramatic, building up to the full eclipse, but I still was a little shocked to see the moon rise with the shadow already present.
