Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
The problem with republicans electing a(nother) moron to lead them, is should they get into power the door is open (again) for the manipulation of the political direction of the USA by corporate, war mongering, and other interest groups.
If Obama is a one term President, which I think likely, my only hope is that the US is bankrupted by the next republican Presidentesss, and it's power wanes further.

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
When were you under the impression that the US is not completely under the control of corporations?
What makes you think that with the base of power that corporations have in the US they won't start making a power play in whatever country you're from?
I suppose you were cheering the Irish potato famine and the breakdown of Somalia too?

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
Whatever gives you the impression I was "cheering"?
The consequence for the rest of the world of a failing, USA under republian control, which had access to it's full military (probably at the cost of it's citizen's welfare,) would be devastating, which country would they decide to invade? An oil rich one would be my guess...
But then, would the rest of the world stand by?

I'd bet good money that if she knew anything at all about Thomas Paine, she'd despise him.

Hey, Glenn Beck claims to worship him. Of course we all know that Glenn Beck's political views have absolutely nothing in common with Paine's, but sadly there are several dozen million Americans who are ignorant of that fact.

Not to mention Jefferson, who stated, among other things:
Quote:
All persons shall have full and free liberty of religious opinion; nor shall any be compelled to frequent or maintain any religious institution.
...
Compulsion in religion is distinguished peculiarly from compulsion in every other thing. I may grow rich by art I am compelled to follow, I may recover health by medicines I am compelled to take against my own judgment, but I cannot be saved by a worship I disbelieve & abhor.
...
our civil rights have no dependence on our religious opinions, any more than our opinions in physics or geometry;
...
Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must more approve the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear.
|
Of course, she'll probably only grasp the full implications of the last and most direct statement, but something tells me he wouldn't be terribly overjoyed to attend to one of her church meetings.

Apparently "Question with boldness" is one of Beck's signature mottoes. Quote mining or ADD, who can say.

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
This Fox gig is good news for her 2012 campaign. With her Fox writers giving her words for the next year that make he look smart on the moving picture box, it should allow the low IQ supporters to go "see, she's just as smart as that eveel intellectual socialist %$^$# that associates with terrorists." you betch ya!

Sarah Palin with a media arm? Jesus Christ, hide the children.
I saw her talking to O'Reilly just nodding her head and saying "yes" to everything he said.

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
I love her and Glenn Beck waxing patriotic about the Founding Fathers. Grade School civics at best, and both think they are saying something. But of course the kicker is that this is actually perfect for their target audience.

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
Having Palin a commentator on Fox could become a big hit around the world. Maybe even on the scale of Fawlty Towers, Father Ted, The Office etc.
What it may do for the image of USA politics is another matter..

I'd be more inclined to believe it if it wasn't just a random "motivator" shoop.

Andrew Sullivan spent an unreasonable amount of time digging into the "Palin wasn't really pregnant" idea and came up with nothing, so I'm extremely disinclined to believe it at this point.

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
I don't buy it either, but there's still more evidence behind that conspiracy theory (in other words, photographs of Palin seven months pregnant that make it look like she's not pregnant) than there is behind the one that Obama wasn't born in the United States (in other words, a forged Kenyan, or whatever the fuck it was, birth certificate).
