OK, I'll jump on it (jump on it, jump on it, AHUNGA HUNGA HUNGA HUNGA!)

That's similar what you're supposed to do when you see something traumatizing, to keep the memory from imprinting. They specifically recommend Tetris for that, though.

This is something like Day 7 of having "Killer Queen" stuck in my head after hearing it on the radio twice without much interval in between. Nothing I do to dislodge it works. I just reread that Guardian article and then tried playing Sudoku. All that accomplished was playing Sudoku with a Queen soundtrack. What a drag ...

So since Sudoku didn't work, I'm thinking of trying Seppuku next.

If you like Japanese games with a 'k' in them, you could visit some bukkake sites.

But if that doesn't work, I recommend the Mandy Bandylegs solution, as this song of his has some of the same chord progressions as Killer Queen, only slower and different.

However, be warned that the cure may be worse than the affliction.

Who is that guy in the picture? That's not Barry Manilow.

Barry Manilow wrote that "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there"* song and also "I am stuck on Band Aids." Try those ones, too, since you all love Barry Manilow so much.

* And Weezer COVERED IT. They didn't even write it, but they COVERED IT because that is how terrible they are. You can't even find the full original version of it, because BARRY MANILOW IS TOO COOL FOR THAT SHIT, but Weezer will not only do it, but Rivers Cuomo will make extremely sincere faces when he says State Farm.

I can't remember if I posted this before or not, so apologies for the possible repetition. I find the Oompa Loompa song, original of course, always works to remove earworms from my head.

Apparently it's some guy named Chesney Hawkes I never heard of him

Is that his cover version of "can't smile" ? It sounds like the original to me, and I just posted the link without really looking at the photo.

ETA: now I actually read the Wikipedia article I linked above, I see that Chesney starred in a stage musical which featured lots of Manilow songs, so I guess that explains it.

I spent the first minute and a half trying to place the guy in the glasses. I knew I had seen him before. The face at 1:38 helped me to realize he played the baby man in that Written By a Kid short, Goth Boy.

Rhett and Link are also the guys who did that I love local commercials series. They at least briefly had a TV show about that too.

Oh sweet Jesus shit.

Whatever you do, do NOT watch a documentary about Adam Ant.

It's kind of interesting, but either just ask me to tell you what happens, or maybe watch it with captions instead of sound.

Had a snatch of melody stuck in my head last night and this morning. Took me forever to figure out what it was, but it came to me at last. It was a bit from Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. It's good to have TCM back.

I had Take my breath away by Berlin in my head all day for some reason, because I haven't heard it in a long time and don't particularly want to.

O God help me.

This one video I just posted, the Lonely Robot one, starts out with just the beginning of this song, which is one of my most pernicious all time earworms. Whenever I am not actively listening to something else, I am hearing this:

Everyone join me in my most insidious earworm ever. At least it's a good song.

Given the chance, I'll die like a baby
On some far away beach
When the season's over

Unlikely I'll be remembered
As the tide brushes sand in my eyes
I'll drift away

Cast up on a plateau with only one memory
A single syllable, oh lie low, lie low
Lie lie lie lie die die lie die die die ...
