Is that anchoring, or am I thinking of something else?

Based on the fact that hundreds of millions of people haven't yet become creeped and alienated enough to stop using the service, I'm guessing they can go all the way.

Mr. Zuckerberg, here's one to your face. I mean, in your face. I predict it's not going to go like you expect.

Playing with people is dangerous business. Even if you think they're all your friends. I mean, it's going to be the biggest launch in the history of "stock market timing". Do you know who invented that shit?
I'm talking to you, Mr. Zuckershitface.

Mr. Zuckerfaceberg, do you know what the operating principle (of an interferometrically working milling machine) is, I mean, one that works in all spatial directions at once?

I have some old remnants of "kinetic energy" projectiles that are peeled off their tender tungsten arrows by the force of wind when they leave their smooth-barreled home, faster than a sniper's bullet, and they are more accurate, even over long distances.

Poo, I've balmed down. If The Zuckertort ever comes into my vicinity, I only have a butter creme present for his Facebook. With almond splitters.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
The bad part about the facebook nonsense is that you don't even have to click "Like" buttons to tell facebook whether you like something or not. They are web bugs.

More on Facebook's shadow profiles.
Firm: Facebook's shadow profiles are 'frightening' dossiers on everyone | ZDNet
The moral of the story is that the blabbiest and most gullible person you know sets the security level for your personal information, and Facebook's data security is such that pretty much anyone might end up with it.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
I have to be on FB for business and they force you to have a personal page too. I finally found a use for mine because a customer friended that page instead of liking my business page and proceeded to shower me with all sorts of wisdom from the religious right. Now I get to spam liberal godless heathen stuff and know that I'm pissing at least one person off. I think that I have 14 friends but only actually know and like 3 of them and the rest are people that I didn't want to be rude to. I'm winding down part of my business because of a wrist injury and the minute that I'm done I'm deleting those pages and never letting that on my computer again.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
I guess that explains it. I got a bug fix letter from Facebook telling me that they had exposed my e-mail address to "at most one person". Trouble is, it wasn't the e-mail address attached to my Facebook account. It was my work e-mail address that I've never given to Facebook. The actual release of it didn't bother me too much as ALA has made it public for years, but I still found it strange.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
The thing that bothers me the most about it, for personal reasons, is the shadow profiles of non-members. I can and have opted out of those stupid invitations people can send you, but I can't tell Facebook to remove my information entirely. I made the decision not to give Facebook my information, but people I know vetoed me.
That's one the major reasons I think that it should be considered a HUGE etiquette breach to give someone else's personal information to anyone ever without their explicit permission, whether it's contact scraping or individually sent 'invitations' or subscriptions or anything.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
I agree. I keep getting LinkedIn invitations to my work e-mail from people I've contacted or even people whose booths I visited at a conference once. Add that to the way Gmail, and probably other e-mail providers, add anyone you've sent or read a message from to your contacts whether you want them to or not, and there is virtually no way to communicate using e-mail without Facebook or someone else getting your information.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
I thought I got LinkedIn notices because I've a LinkedIn account. Maybe it's FB.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
I do have a LinkedIn account, but as with Facebook it has a different e-mail address than the one getting the invitations.
