To the cars waiting to make a right turn in front of me
You can go.
You can go.
Go. You can go.
You can go.
There are two lanes.
Two lanes. You can go.
Those cars are in the outside lane. You can go.
Go go go.
You can go.
Just fucking go.
Two lanes. There are two lanes.
You can go.
You can go.
Go now.
Go go go.
Lots of room. Outside lane. You can go.
You can go.

Re: To the cars waiting to make a right turn in front of me
This is why all cars (except mine) need a short range remote control receiver device installed in them. Then there needs to be an app for that, so I can take control of the excessively timid drivers in front of me and make them a) turn into that mile wide gap in traffic they apparently don't see and b) accelerate until they're doing the speed limit and/or the keeping up with the actual flow of traffic.

Also, fucking complete your left turn when the light turns red instead of panicking and staying halfway in the crosswalk for another full red until you get the green arrow.

Re: To the cars waiting to make a right turn in front of me
And to the cars on the freeway on-ramp ahead of me:
Go faster. Go!
No, faster than that.
Faster than 20 mph, because it's,like, y'know, the freeway.
The cars that are already on the freeway are going at least 60, so you'd better go faster than 20.
You can't merge into speeding traffic at that speed.
More importantly, NEITHER CAN I!

Oh, down here horns are on a timer or something, if you are not moving within 1/10 of a second of the light turning green, you're getting honked at

Re: To the cars waiting to make a right turn in front of me
To those idiots who come to a complete stop at a red light, and then decide to change lanes when they only have enough room to get half out of their lane and half into mine. And then hover there, worried that they aren't going to be let over because they are a dick and they know it, but STILL won't move over when I give them the rest of the room they already took by force and get out of my way...
Fuck you. That's all.

The law is that you MAY turn right IF YOU CAN DO SO SAFELY. There's no law that says you HAVE TO turn on the red light, and in fact you shouldn't IF YOU CAN'T DO SO SAFELY. Maybe YOU see well enough to gauge the distances and speeds, see through the cars next to you, etc., but not everybody has the perfect eyesight and depth perception and x-ray vision that YOU were lucky enough to get.

I am not deaf. I heard you the first, second and third times you honked. If I am not going, it's because *I* can't do so safely. Not every driver is as talented a speed demon as YOU.

Re: To the cars waiting to make a right turn in front of me
He didn't say anything about a red or green light. What about when there's no traffic light, just a stop sign? Should he be expected to wait forever because the driver in front of him isn't sighted well enough to gauge distances and speeds? (You'd think they'd do a vision test at the DMV before issuing a license. Oh, wait.)

Heh....At the end of my block, the intersection has a setback stop line, complete with a curbside sign that points directly to the broad, setback, stop line. My street is a designated bicycle path, complete with a bicycle lane approaching the intersection AND...a bicycle box where bicyclists proceed to the front of the stopped traffic. Traffic from the crossing street, a major cross-town arterial, is legally prevented from entering my street, either direction, so drivers on my street who reach the intersection must turn onto the arterial and cannot proceed through...and, there are physical barriers to that, as well. Finally, the intersection has a three-color lighted control and a standard NO TURNS ON RED sign dangling next to the control light.
So....What is the standard behavior by auto drivers?
This: Ignore the stop line sign, roll past the stop line, stopping in the middle of the bicycle box and the striped pedestrian walk, and ignore the NO TURNS sign in attempts, sometimes successful, to turn right onto a very busy arterial street. This, amongst other indicators, seem to show that the average drivers around here are complete illiterates or calloused scofflaws.
What part of NO TURN ON RED do they not understand?

Re: To the cars waiting to make a right turn in front of me
Actually, though (at least in Michigan, because this happened to someone I know) if one of those cars in the outside lane decides to change to an inner lane at the exact moment you're turning and sideswipes you, you are at fault.

Heh, I am all about some right-on-red, but if somebody honks at me I'm not going anywhere until the light changes. I am staying right there at the red light, even if - no, especially if - there is absolutely no oncoming traffic. After the light changes I might take a few seconds to realize it, and if honker is still behind me, it may take several minutes to accelerate past 35 mph.

Is it one of those where, if you're stopped where you're legally supposed to you can't actually see the oncoming traffic you'll be turning into? We have like three of those near my house, and they're ridiculous.

None of this would be a problem if you all drove on the correct side of the road.

Re: To the cars waiting to make a right turn in front of me
I do that, too.
I used to live right down the street from a college campus, and one day, on my way home from work, I'm stopped at a crosswalk letting someone cross, and the plophead behind me LAYS ON HIS HORN, like I'm just going to run down a pedestrian or something. I'm like, "Really dude? You're thinking that's going to work?"
I waved like a thousand people into the crosswalk, then waited a while to make sure nobody else wanted to cross. I only decided to go after someone else came up behind Mr. Honkypants.
Someday, somebody's just gonna shoot me dead.
