This sounds great. Could you elaborate on the procedural details?

Only part of a pig. Even I couldn't eat a whole pig in one sitting.

I made cabbage and meatball soup and no-knead bread, but I don't feel like eating, so I think I'll throw it away.

Try to follow these highly detailed instructions very closely, as this is a hugely technical dish!
Get fish. Mox herbs and breadcrumbs. Sprinkle with olive oil. Dot with olives, little tomatoes and small pieces of garlic. Bake in oven
Rub a little EVOO on a flat tray and put in the fish, trying to cover the dish. Then get a bunch of breadcrumbs, which you heavily season with fresh rosemary, dried basil and fresh thyme, as well as a little pepper and salt. Cover the fish with it, and then sprinkle with olive oil to make sure your crust goes crispy. Then you dot the surface with small pieces of garlic (you can leave this out if you do not like roasted garlic), cherry tomatoes and black olives. Bake in the over for 20-30 minutes, and serve with some boiled baby potatoes and green beans with chilli, lemon and butter.
Ideal meal for when you want something nice, but cannot be bothered to do a lot of cooking. You can sort this whole meal out in about half an hour and still produce something that looks and sounds hella swanky.

Re: What's for Dinner?
Today is breakfast for dinner day. Simple ol' bacon, eggs and toast. I was going to make Biscuit Trainwreck but I was out of sausage. Maybe tomorrow after my store run.

Re: What's for Dinner?
Me, too. I'm having breakfast risotto, a recipe I've been working on for a while. I think I've finally got it where I want it, but I'm going to try a new wrinkle tonight anyway.

Re: What's for Dinner?
Went to the store today because I ran out of Dr. Pepper and that's a fucking five alarm emergency, so I'm definitely having biscuit trainwreck for breakfast tomorrow.
This is basically a third to a half pound of sausage with gravy, mutilated onions and diced fresh jalapenos, thrown onto biscuits which are cut into quarters, slightly overdone (browned on both sides - you flip them during the bake) so they resist the urge to get too soggy in the gravy. It's fucking great if you don't mind waking up to a thousand calories.

Trout without dill just seems wrong somehow. Not as wrong as salmon without dill but still... wrong.

Re: What's for Dinner?
We tried to go to the new really good taqueria here, but like now 75% of our attempts to patronize them, they were closed for some unexplained reason during their posted business hours. SO we instead went to this Greek place that's right nearby but in this weird and almost invisible location, and OMG. So good. Also cheap. It is technically on a paved road, but man, just barely. There aren't any streetlights or anything fancy like that. It's just this little house with Christmas lights on a street all by itself.
So good, though. I even liked the baklava, and I don't like baklava.
And it's actually really close, just in the weirdest location ever. So ha ha, mean taqueria! But really, be open again sometime.

Satay stirfry with rice, peppers, grean beans, carrots, sweet corn and chicken (veggie pieces for Sou).
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm satay sauce.
It's for lunch today too, because we always make enough for 2 meals each.

I am not 100% sure of the measures as I generally make this by taste.
You take a small onion, finely chop it, and soften it in a saucepan with a tablespoon of oil. Add 2 tablespoons of Sambal Oelek and about 4 cloves of garlic, minced and fry for half a minute. Do not fully cook the garlic!
Add 2 cups of water, about 4 tablespoons of white vinegar, 8 tablespoons of Kecap Manis (sometimes spelled Ketjap) and 1 tablespoon of golden syrup. Then add about 3/4 of a jar of peanut butter. Add more water if it is still too thick so you get a nice thick sauce consistency, runny but not watery. Add about a cloves worth of garlic paste.
Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, and then take it off the heat. Let it cool down completely, and reheat to serve. It needs to sit for a while to get the proper flavour.
While you are at it, marinade 1-2cm cubes of chickenbreast in this, preferably overnight
1 Onion
2 Garlic cloves
30 ml Ketjap Manis
1 teaspoon Coriander powder
1 teaspoon Lemon Grass
1 teaspoon Sambal Oelek
1 glass red wine
Just chuck it all in a food processor and blitz until it is pasty.
And then put the pieces on skewers cook it under the grill, or better yet on the barbecue! Then serve with the peanut sauce. Tis yummeh!
PS - Tesco has the Ketjap Manis and Sambal Oelek

Re: What's for Dinner?
Specialty stores here have katjap manis and sambal Oelek (unless your store has a good selection of Hoy Fong sauces). Also I used a shallot instead of a small onion the few times I made Indonesian peanut sauce.
Golden syrup is throwing me. Light molasses?

Kind of, yeah. Very light, very sweet, without that licorice-like flavour that molasses get. You can use a little dark brown sugar as a substitute in a pinch.
And I bet a shallot works even better than onion.

Re: What's for Dinner?
Simple spaghetti Bol tonight, but I have spatchcocked some chickens and I have them sitting in Peri-peri marinade for tomorrow. Grilled peri-peri chicken with spicy minty peas and brown beans done in a tomato, chillies, smoked paprika and red onion sauce. Probably with chips as a starch as I cannot think of anything else that would go with it.
