I got a half a yard of topsoil today and started spreading it on some of the flower beds, my wife wants to get tanbark and spread out to control the weeds.

I finished the flower beds and spread some more topsoil, I will spread a little more later. I Finished lining it with stones that I had gathered. My daughter-in-law asked me where I got the stones, I asked her if she had ever been on my property, It's almost all stones. When you dig a hole you get a big pile of rocks and a small pile of soil.

How very biblical of you.

I'm getting good at the gathering together part, but when I try to throw stones away, they just land on other stones.

Right now I'm working on a clamping bench for gluing up model ship hulls. It's 10' by 2' on the working surface but will be a little wider to accommodate the mechanism. The last one had lines down the front and I had to slide the hull in from the end to clamp it, this one will be open along the front and will have the mechanism in the back. I'll use lines and pulleys to pull the clamp bars down and press the parts together.

Just finished my clamping bench, now I'll be able to glue up hulls for model ships, as soon as I get a band saw to cut out the layers. I have used the "bread and butter" method of building hulls before, and it seemed to work out well. I tried to post a photo, but it isn't working for me.

My computer audio developed the Dreaded Realtek "audio device not detected" bug, and the 'headphone was unplugged' big, simultaneously. I already know this motherboard is cursed, so time to go USB. I happened to have a USB headset from 2003 which still works. Yay!
How is this related to making anything? It wasn't a stereo headset:
...but is, now!
I had to remove R39 to stop it mixing the left and right channels, and move the red wire so it carries left-channel audio instead of lighting a LED.
Then I soldered on a connector from my vast dead-headphone graveyard and huzzah, mono headset becomes stereo line-output. My wireless headphones are happy again.
There's two ways to do that actually - "ninjaflex" flexible filament, or printing a mold which you fill with silicone or oogoo or something. I'd try the latter, just because it'd yield a solid object not built out of layers.
Ordinarily I have a policy of not spending a lot of time 3d-printing stuff available for pennies each, but man, Home Hardware charges like a buck each for o-rings which is crazy.
The secret size for gardena quick-connects is 9mm wide / 3mm diameter, apparently.
As part of my physiotherapy I have to desensitize the newly attached piece to different things. They started me on some pressure and texture. They gave me a little baggie of various textures. It works best if the piece of thing is on a flat surface and I rub the finger on it. I have nothing against the loose baggie, but I had a thought that I could improve it.
By accident I picked up a fidget cube. I've been wanting one for a while and it just so happened that Target had one. At first I was going to glue the fabrics to a random cardboard box - but then I remembered the case the fidget came in. It's not as easily portable as the baggie, but it really doesn't have to be.
The only piece I didn't attach was that felt. I didn't want the glue I used to bleed through the cloth, so I just left it loose. Everything else attached well enough. Hopefully, it'll work for as long as I need it to.
I now have a plug too, and an improved socket which is much stronger:
I was incredulous the first time I got it to actually work, and detached it to make sure there really was pressure. It shot off and hit me in the face.
A victim of their own success, our garden grew taller than our impact sprinklers today. Plastic 3/4" electrical conduit turns out to make a very nice "stand", thin enough to hammer deep in the ground, and the right diameter to wedge a sprinkler spike inside. Much better than the silly wooden stakes we tried this spring, which fell over constantly.
Also, I just finished making the chicken coop. I am now building the run to keep the local eagle population from flying off with any of our prize-winning hens...
Also pruned back the tomatoes a second time, as they keep outgrowing the circle cages holding them up:
I am ready for the global amerikan endarkening tomorrow. I have maded my own sun disappearance observation device (currently named the solar eclipsotron). I would like to promise that I'll be able to take some neat pictures of the eclipse as it happens, but taking a picture with my phone whilst using the setron while not under the pressure of a ticking clock was too much already. I also wanted to paint it (matte black) before affixing the viewing window to the plain shoebox, but as you can see, I did not. So, really, it's just a backwoods effort for a likely one time event.
It's just a piece of welding glass (#10, highest I could find) duck taped in a box with a whole (poorly) cut out of it.
