It isn't "going after one of Trump's allies" in the ordinary sense because the ordinary sense of "going after a member of set S" is "attacking/punishing for being in S" and it is mostly partisan.

Giuliani has had his license suspended for being a member of the set of bent lawyers, not for being a member of the set of allies of the Whiter Inciter. and there is nothing remotely partisan about it.

But of course, Trump needs that truth to be obfuscated, and accusing the AGC of partisan motivation is a predictable and quite effective deflection.

This thread is not exactly on point, but the Rule 11 sanctions hearing for Wood, Powell et al. in Michigan today was legitimately stunning. It relates to the facially bogus, lie-filled Big Lie suit they brought in Michigan. It was basically the hearing that Orly Taitz should have had to endure over and over again, and it is hard to overstate how badly it went for the Trumpists. Like, really, really badly, in so many ways.

Still looking for a complete copy of today's opinion and order, but the opening sentence is "This lawsuit represents a historic and profound abuse of the judicial process." The judge apparently ordered the Kraken lawyers to pay the city and state's attorney fees, take remedial legal ethics classes, and announced her intent to rat these fucks out to the appropriate attorney disciplinary authorities.

The cases Plaintiffs cite to support their argument that non-signing attorneys cannot be sanctioned were decided before the 1993 amendments to Rule 11.

ETA: Where has Stefanie Lynn Junttila been all my life? The day after the judge denied plaintiffs' Taitzianly-titled "Emergency Motion for Declaratory, Emergency,
and Permanent Injunctive Relief and Memorandum in Support Thereof," Ms. Junttila entered an appearance and filed a notice of appeal to the "Federal Circuit," which exists primarily to decide appeals in patent and trademark cases.

That there is one of the averments in the Amended Complaint the state of Michigan asserted was not "well grounded in fact." Nothing other than sanctions proceeding provide such fertile ground for recitation of wholly sedate-sounding legal standards AND wild flourishes of rhetorical excess.
