Default Just curious

I recently lost all my files!

I won't bore you with the details but I lost everything including Windows.

Now I'm reasonably up and running again there's a new little annoyance I'd like someone to explain to me.

Every few days I get an email purporting be a failure notice saying that one of my emails hasn't been delivered.

It includes a copy of the undelivered mail - here's a sample of the wording ...

"<font face=3DScript size=3D"5" color=3D"#800080">pocket from submarine cloud formation defined by paper napkin traffic light</FONT>
<br>"

There are some links which I'm not disposed to follow and some lightly disguised pornographic phrases.

This is supposed to be from me to an address that the email says it can't deliver to.

Can someone let me know what could be going on - is it a prank or something more sinister?

It's just spam. It is unrelated to your loss of files. Don't click on any of the links or open any attachments that come with it. Delete it.

I started getting emails like that saying that the message failed to deliver. I changed the password on my email account just in case and they stopped. I don't think they need your password to send spam from your email address (they can spoof the address in other ways without logging in), but you might want to change it just to be safe.

Here's a good way to back up your files online if you're interested. It's reasonably inexpensive.

Hi Iacchus :manhug:

That does look as if it would have saved some precious stuff that's disappeared forever now. Thanks!
