Temba, talking to the hand. The face not listening.
A two part review of one of my favorite TNG episodes, Darmok.

Part 2 is good because it answers what I was asking myself the whole time when watching that episode.

Re: Star Trek is awesome
Should've been an IDIC symbol, rather than the crest.

Nah. See, by using the Starfleet crest, he's emphasizing his military experience. Unfortunately, that impresses more voters than does a symbol that represents tolerance and open-mindedness.

Re: Star Trek is awesome
Two things.
First, via Wheaton:
Let the fact that you're looking at the intersection of Crusher Ave and Picard Lane sink in for a moment before sliding your eyes to the right and realizing that they are adjacent to Warp Drive.
Here it is in context:
Crusher Ave & Picard Ln, Turlock, Stanislaus, California 95380 - Google Maps
And, now the main event.
The latest X Prize has been announced, and the money will go to the person or team who creates aworking...

I don't know what to say about that. On the Big Map, a little to the east, there's also a Picard Court and south of that Ryker Court.

Re: Star Trek is awesome
Years ago, when I was living out in the boonies in North Carolina, the county 911 service declared that everyone must have an actual street address.
This meant that all the short, un-named roads projecting off the main highway had to have names. In most cases, these were just long driveways going out into the woods, with a house at the end. So the county declared that the owner of each such road got to name it.
Some of the names people came up with were pretty interesting. I used to pass "Warp Drive" every day on my way to the Girl Scout Camp where I worked as a naturalist.

On NC194 between Boone and Jefferson, there is one of those. The name is, "No Trespassing Lane." Not nearly as inviting.

Re: Star Trek is awesome
After a note on George Takei's Facebook mentioning his Kansas City shows were sold out I quickly bought our tickets for Detroit. Managed to get the front row, albeit way off to the side. Hope my sister is happy. She's out of town and I couldn't ask if I should go further back for possibly better sight lines.

No one says, "douche-bag" like George. I know, he stands for far more than his calling out of that Bigoted-Redneck-from-Central-Casting, but he could make a fortune hiring himself out:

Caspar: Yes?
GT: Caspar T. Milqutoast?
Caspar: Yes?
GT: Janet has sent me to inform you that YOU . . . are a douche-bag!

Re: Star Trek is awesome
He's offering a ringtone of himself* calling someone a douche-bag. I was kind of surprised my sister didn't get it.
*I have no idea if that should be him or himself. It looks wrong either way.

Who's the douche-bag, again?

Screencap from Enterprise:
If reddit is to believed, the site already has the name, we just have yet to erect the memorial. And there's a related quote:
