Snoak, my first thought was who? My second was, yeah well duh of course. It would be more of a twist if a sith apprentice who worshiped Darth Vader *didn't* kill his asshole master. I was much more annoyed with how they killed off Phasma though.
Of the post-Disney franchisements: Rogue One is my pick of the lot so far. I'm somewhat split about That Scene that Everbody Loves. I love the action of it but it feels a bit out of place from the story the rest of the movie was trying to tell. Nevermind the almost uncanny valley of the cgi cameo. But the rest of the movie was mostly solid for me.
The Last Jedi is next on my list. Two things kinda drag it down for me. They should have reworked that third subplot - the one with Finn and Rose. I thought it might have worked better if there were dueling spies - one on the Republic ship sending coded messages and one on the FO ship being goodly nefarious on that end. But that messes with the theme of a Rising Hope (a New Last Hope?) that would need to be rejiggered as well.
And then there's The Force Awakens. A lot of fun meeting new characters and revisiting that galaxy far, far away. That lot of fun goes a long way to cover the sins of the de4rivitivity of the rest of the movie.
Even in the Legends canon the name Rogue Squadron was indicative of that rag-tag bunch of ne'er do wells who somehow work together. I read the books, at least the ones available to me in the 90s, and enjoyed them. So, I was p much a shoo in for that kind of set up.
I'm more in for the Rey/Finn thing than Rose/Finn - but that's just me. We really haven't seen quite enough of all of them to really judge one way or another.

Rogue One is definitely my favorite of the current gen of SW films. The pacing, the new characters and the plot were all just fine by me.
As for *that* scene, I squeed like any fanboy, but I could have done without it. I acknowledge it as fan service.
I do like how it made Princess Leia even more badass, though. Vader was seconds away from capturing her ship, he just plowed through a ton of her guys to get to her, he sees her ship leave Scarif system with his very eyes.
And when confronted, she simply says "Diplomatic mission, bitch"
If Vader hadn't wasted precious seconds waiting quietly in the dark (as though he were aware of the dramatic tension needed in the script...) he could have made it onto the Tantive IV.
The last Jedi felt like multiple ideas or movies stapled together.
The whole find the code breaker stuff was fun and also completely out of place, and how they got there even more so. It seemed like they back tracked from that story to the chase story as how they got there was very linear. Like they didn't even question so much of their speculation, it was just, 'oh they must be using active tracking' > 'We can't blow up the lead ship as all their other ships obviously have this unheard of tracking tech as well' > 'We must break the shield code!' > 'There's one person who can do it and we must go get them!' > 'This small shuttle can do it, no we won't take anyone else to safety.
I half expected the screen to flash "Mission: Find the code breaker" as if in a video game. Not to mention the number of times they held camera on the secret beacon for Ray it seemed like they were either trying to suggest they could be following the beacon or that at one point they were going to have them follow the beacon but decided against it.
Which is all to say the transition to get them onto the rich casino planet was amazingly forced and it caused the whole sequence to need to deliver extra big just to get the audience to forget how they ended up there. That they ended up bringing back someone who would be partially responsible for killing a good chunk of the rebelion was both expected and a good payoff/punishment for their secretive deeds. Let's hope that in the third one the main characters have learned from and been tempered by the deaths of these red-shirts.
Be Advised-There was no ONE lightsaber I used in the films, but many, MANY, both for myself & my stunt-double. Multiple duplicate back-up props are commonplace during production-When the handle ridges were cutting my hands, they even made a few w/ soft sponge ridges! #BuyerBewarehttps://t.co/C6Tv4TGIPy
