Okay, just a gesture towards balance with the Piss-moan&rant thread (admittedly one of my favorite), I thought we needed a place where folks could wax giddily about something that makes them happy. So here it is.
...My entry?
There is nothing better than turning a feral kitten. When the little fuckers come in they hiss and spit at you constantly, puff themselves up to look mean, ...and end up looking so damn cute. So, you just pet them (carefully) every couple of hours and you keep doing it until they learn to love it. Then one day the little bundle of mean is in your hand purring just like, ...well, like a kitten.
I will now giggle like a schoolgirl!

So this chipmunk comes tearing around the corner of the house from the feeder with its cheeks stuffed to the max like it had a miniature dumb bell in there, suddenly sees me standing on the porch and stops so fast that a corn kernel popped out of its mouth.
i was walking home from getting some groceries. i was carrying two bags, one in each hand. as i was walking i spotted a lady ahead of me staring at something on the ground. she moved on before i got to where she was and i was curious to see what she was looking at.
well, it was a tiny baby squirrel and it was stranded in the gutter. i couldn't just leave it there, so i tried nudging it back on to the sidewalk with my shoe. well, it ended up sticking to my foot and wouldn't let go. i was left standing on one foot with groceries in my hands, wondering what to do with this baby squirrel stuck on my shoe.
so, i hopped on my one foot to a nearby tree and wiped my other foot against it, like trying to get gum off the soul of your shoe. of course, i did this all very gently and the little thing just kind of slid off my shoe and stuck to the bark of the tree.
the whole thing was really funny and i was laughing. unfortunately, it was early in the morning and nobody was around to see my little drama play out. it would have made a great entry to america's funniest home videos.
and now i have a feeling i have told this story here before, but since i just typed it out, i'm hitting send anyhow...
ummm....
well, i was walking down a residential street in toronto. garbage is sorted into various containers for pick-up here, and a lot of people have little hutches, or whatever, to keep them all in (and away from those horrifying raccoons). anyway, so i was trudging along, pondering something dark and tragic no doubt, when i noticed that one of these hutches was wide open and in total disarray. there, sitting on top, was a squirrel triumphantly clutching a perfect piece of toast in both paws and daintily nibbling away at it.
of course i just fell to pieces.
I can't think of any cute stories right now but I'm sure I will.
I love the thread and I will be back.
It doesn't have to be cuddly and cute. That's just what I used for my first post. The point is to focus on something that makes you smile. For a boxer, I suppose it could be delivering a really solid punch. But it's just what makes you smile.
I frown a lot, which is why the pissmoan&rant thread is a natural for me. Just once though I thought I'd post an unequivocal smile. Which is the point of the thread.
