For Mrs Sectus it is beans in tomato sauce, mushy peas, mashed potatoes and sausages. Every time something upsetting happens, that is what I have to cook for her.

I don't seem to have any myself.

I don't seem to have any comfort food. Not even cinnamon toast would rate being a comfort food.

I do know my sister likes scalloped potatoes and ham as comfort food. Also, the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich.

Is that real or store bought? When our children were growing up we were buying directly from the producers in Somerset County Pa. and now they don't want anything less.

Real store bought maple syrup, not that maple-flavored crap.

Maple flavored carp does sound good, though.

I've been thinking about scalloped potatoes and ham lately. In the context of wondering why none of my siblings ever seem to make it when they all liked it while we were growing up. I never liked it at the time, but most of them did. Wonder what happened to that dish.

At mushroom noodle casserole and meat loaf for lunch. Not sure how comforting I found it, but it was yummy.

I am slutty for chips and salsa. Specifically, I like chips with my salsa.

To relate more thoroughly with the first post, I think I associate it with warm summer days, spending all day swimming, and the days when I didn't have a care in the world.

Now with rent, insurance, utilities, loan repayments and phone bills...I long for the simplicity of my youth. Bright flavors of salsa probably take me there...subconsciously, anyway.

Co-worker just came back from the NE with two boxes of Devil Dogs (Drake) for me.

Nothing better than these "170 calories a pop" tubes of devils food cake and cream.

Cubed steak and mashed potatoes was always a favorite food when I was a child, and I still really like it now. Creamed corn.

Chicken pot pie. Peach cobbler. French toast.

Update! I got two boxes of bullion cubes from England in the mail last night. The smell nearly drove me wild, but I waited. I will be making rice with one tonight. Happy Janet!

Ironically, the boxes I ordered from Canada before I got fed up of waiting and found the seller in England still haven't even shipped, much less arrived.
