Except that I get my twitstream on my cell phone and post mostly from my cell phone.

I think that's a funny criticism from someone who is so involved in an online community.

It's a criticism from somebody who feels that he spends way too much time at his computer, socializing with people I'll never meet. I don't need more ways to do that, I need to get out and meet real people and do real things.

I hope it stays focused upon cell phones.... Which means it'll merely be another distraction for some driver that they may engage in inattentive driving all the more often.

Ah, well most of my twitter friends are people I have met and know, but have very few opportunities to socialize with because we live in different states now. I do write them actual letters, but it is hard to keep up with everyone. And I don't like talking on the phone.

There's my reason for using Twitter, if I ever get into the habit. It's why I took to text messaging once my daughter got me started on it.

So far, though, Twitter found the one person in my address book who was using it--someone I don't even remember putting there or why--and I put him on my update list. (Or whatever it's called.) Today he noticed that and put me on his list.

Neither of us has written a thing since. I don't know about him but I'm shy. :peekaboo:

I'm using Twitter. I crosspost my updates to Facebook by using Hellotxt. I don't have twitter sending me sms messages, so I'm probably doing it wrong. :shrug:

I have just joined Twitter because it's in the press here all the time atm and I wanted to see what it was all about. I'm such a saddo that I'm now following a few "celebs" plus a very special person who also posts on :ff:

I have nothing to add to my updates but it is fun following. Stephen Fry is my hero and apparently he is just behind Obama in the "followers" tally.

Twitter has been everywhere the last week or so, on the Today show, Fox morning show, Attack of the Show reported that Barbara Walters and the View girls broke it mid week. Link

I'm on facebook and it's great for me. Great balance of news from my friends and a fast interesting way of sharing photos and links among all of us. I'm not much of a phone person. Long distance friendships are hard to keep up for me. Actually, cross town relationships are hard for me. My friends complain about it all the time. Facebook lets me let them know how I'm doing, and I can check in with them and see how they are doing without loosing thirty minutes in a phone conversation.

I have found and reconnected with old friends, and I have networked with people I met once at and had a real friendship grow out of it. Might not have happened without it.

I remember in my social pychology class, discussing proximity as being one of the key ingredients as to whether or not a relationship will begin or maintain. They are social networking sites, and I think they work well for what they are intended. I'm a happy customer anyway.
