Looks like you got this job, quiet bear. Congrats and good luck!
Biochemgirl, I hope that things settle out with the Army situation soon. That sort of thing would drive me nuts!
Javaman, your trip sounds great. If you get a chance, keep us ers updated with your travelogue.

Re: Member News Discussion
Congrats on your longevity, Dingfod! Sounds like you are great at your job; hopefully it is satisfying for you.
It's funny the difference in how we all look at things. Next week, I'll be hitting my 10 years at my current company and it's been 5 years since I've been on this particular assignment/program. My 13+ years at my previous employer was so intense and challenging during my early adult years, I still think "new job" about my current employer.

Re: Member News Discussion
Thanks pescifish. My job isn't very personally satisfying. There are a lot of things wrong with it and nothing seems to ever get done about any of it. However, it pays well, so, in the rut I continue.

No, just a framed certificate of appreciation noting the passage of a decade and a half with this corporation. Most of the people I work with don't know that I worked for this same corporation for part of 1980 and most of 1981 (also in the Tulsa area), so I actually have about 16-1/2 years with the company. The 10 year gap in service was filled in three different locations with my previous employer, the local gas company in Utah.

Re: Member News Discussion
Ding,
Your 15 and my 10 equals 25 yrs. They should send us on a vacation or something, on them....(like that would happen, they would be afraid that you would reveal something to me). Reveal yes, but most certainly wouldn't have anything to do with work. Get this everyone, I was told I could not attend his little commerative meeting because of FERC regulations. Leave a division and they treat you like shit....what I do now doesn't pertain to anything within my old area, no regulations would be violated. Sucks big time. Oh well, live and learn........

Your new apartment sounds fab, cappuccino. I can't believe the landlord is okay with you painting it. That's a major bonus.

Damn Capp, that's what I pay for my tiny little apartment. 13 rooms? That's insane!
ETA: And if I painted anything in there I bet they'd have a cow and then insist I pay a pet deposit for it!

Re: Member News Discussion
I was bowed over when the landlord said it was no problem painting the place whatever I wanted. When I saw the apartment for the first time I wasn't really impressed although I did liked the amount of room, when he said I could decorate it, that clinched the deal. With that bonus option, I could envision the place's potential and I knew it would be way better with a good paintjob. It's impossible to find another place with this much space around here for a bargain. I was very very lucky. I promised the landlord I would take a very good care of the place and pick good color schemes.

Oh and pets are allowed at my place too...no pet deposits required plus a backyard and a nearby park available.
The rooms aren't hugemous or anything, the largest rooms are the living room and my now bedroom but they are a pretty decent size. The smallest room, what I'm now calling the library, is about 5ft by 3 and half ft, maybe a little bigger and my walk-in closet is bigger than it. It's just crazy.

Wow cap, you did good, real good. We could never have a pet until we owned our place. The pet deposits were ridculous. Enjoy your new space!
