No, no you weren't.

You clearly have a muddled idea about what obsequious means. I would give you a definition from the dictionary but I am just too lazy.

Here's a quick non-dictionary example: An ass-kissing suck-up sycophant is obsequious.

And by example we now know the meaning of the word 'redundant', too. :P

Hey, happy belated birthday, Warrenly!

Sorry I'm late, but I've been so busy these last few days and haven't been online.

Hope you had a great day! :D

Actually, I was trying to kiss up to Cool Hand. I thought by quickly agreeing with him when I was pretty sure he knew what obsequious meant or at least had looked it up just like anyone else could have, making him feel better than me (which shouldn't be too difficult). If that is not being obsequious, clearly I'm clearly oblivious to its meaning.

I was being waggish with my missive. Sorry.

I understood you just fine, just as you demonstrated that you understood me.

I thought your witty reply to my original question was le mot juste. Like my namesake, I am not a toady. Your response indicated that you got that.

It's too bad that this silly disagreement over word usage spills across threads, although I suppose that I invited it over here, ironically, by making fun of it.

I don't mind, it's kind of fun to manipulate language... or mangle it on purpose.

The keg would be fine, but do it? That would give a new meaning to "tap the keg", wouldn't it?

Okay I'll just need some supplies-- warm chocolate syrup, feathers, lots of pillows, twine, police officer uniform with boots and some of those cute little cocktail umbrellas...
