I'm just a big ol' ray of sunshine today, but tbh that sounds like it could be heart and/or BP related. Might be worth a doctor visit.

I snapped out of it. I think it was and extreme case of apathy bordering on depression. But I'm too lazy to look into it so it could be extreme apathy combined with extreme procrastination.

Re: First World Problems
I just purchased a 4-pack of ginger beer, and I have a nice new bottle of gin, but I think my lime juice is way past its prime. I made for a sub-par Foghorn as a result. (The Foghorn is the gin equivalent of a Moscow Mule, and is my favorite mixed drink.)
No, I didn't have a fresh lime, and yes, I should have gotten one when I bought the ginger beer. I thought I was good on limes/lime juice.

I had to get some ginger beer on Friday. Having never purchased it before due to my dislike of ginger beverages, I searched and scoured the beer section only to find oddities like pumpkin ale and cucumber beer.
So I went to the front and asked the guy, who took me across the store to the mixer stuff and showed me how ginger beer is not really beer. It's root beer made with gingers.
Then I went all the way back to the front with the guy, and guess what, they had ginger beer right next to his register. He could have just pointed and said, "It's right here".
In the end, both of us were stupid so it was a draw.

Re: First World Problems
EVERYONE BELLY UP TO THE SOBBIN' TROUGH.
The other day, I was driving and saw a lady selling pinon nuts out of her car so I was all like skreeeee! and bought a couple bags of pinon nuts. And so then I figured I needed to get some basil so I can make a batch of pesto, and the best place to buy fresh basil is the Asian market. But it's lychee season, so they have the fresh lychees sitting up front on sale, prebagged. I was just there last week and bought one, but some got moldy and I had to compost them, so I tried pretty hard not to buy another bag because they're pretty big bags, and then I bought another bag.
So now I have too many pinon nuts and too much lychee, but nothing to, like, make any kind of dinner out of or whatever. (That's OK tonight, because I'm not hungry and Matlock is at a rock music performance, but tomorrow, we starve probably.)

Re: First World Problems
What are my obligations to attend a work social function where a coworker is leaving, but they're part of the larger organization, and I haven't interacted with them once the entire time?
I need to know 15 minutes ago.

Re: First World Problems
Are they members? No? Don't go.
Are they on the wrong side of the emote-emoji debate? Maybe? Don't go.
Are there going to be other cow-orkers there that you haven't interacted with? Don't go.
Was it a rhetorical question? Don't go.

No members that I know of. Either no one works there, or they don't want me to know they do.
I may not know any of them well enough to know where they stand on emoticon-emoji debate.
I know many of the people likely to show up, I even know some people's names.
One thing I didn't mention is that this is a young, attractive lady, and I'm a grody middle aged man. Unless I went as part of a group of people, I feel like it would seem like I'm some creepy old guy coming to gawk at the pretty girls. No one else in my immediate group went.
The last reason I was motivated to go was cake, and since I had ice-cream at the previous meeting, I wasn't that motivated for cake.

I can see it now:
Young, attractive lady: So what do you do outside work?
specious: Are you interested in ... photography?

See, if we're going to have an honest discussion it's important to list all important details. We here at the could give a rat's ass about how you feel like a gross and perverted old man (that may help us like you more, actually) or how your relationship to your coworkers is tenuous at best. The most important thing about this social function was deliberately (and likely maliciously ) held out. If you had mentioned that cake was hanging in the balance, our helpful advice may have been, uh, you know, more helpfullish.

I like this supposition that I would have a conversation with the coworker beyond, "good luck in your new endeavor!" ...or that she would bother to feign enough interest to ask such a question.
