I'm listening to a blues band in the Porterhouse, Temple Bar, Dublin, and I'm saved. By BB King and Johnny Cash and John Lee Hooker.

If I'd had to listen to one more acoustic rendition of the Wild Rover or Molly Malone or Whisky in the Jar (a fine song, but) I might have had to renounce Guinness.

This is arguably the most Edgar Wintery sounding tune of all time, but the actual songwriter was Dan Hartman, a bandmate of Edgar's in the Edgar Winter Group. Hartman was superb and a grossly underappreciated musician/songwriter. He was also a closest gay man, who didn't seek treatment and mostly kept it to himself after he was diagnosed with HIV in the late 1980s. He died in 1994 at the ripe old age of 43, another top notch musician gone way too soon.

Listening to this decades later after the last time I'm reminded just how trashed these guys were throughout much of their career.

I was reminded of The Cramps on two separate occasions last week, and so now I'm listening to a playlist on Spotify.

They're great, but in large doses it gets repetitive. Here's "Surfing Dead" featured from Return of the Living Dead:

Ran across this tonight.
2008 at Montreux

First time I met him was at Whiskey A Go-Go when I was a kid on my first solo trip to LA.
I'd heard a couple of records, but to be THERE with THEM was a life-changer.

Been out in the boonies for so long, Life gets busy, and you kinda lose track of the real world, every now and again.
But finding these gems brings it all back.
Thank the Stars for YouTube and such.
