Oh, liv, I have been remiss! I never got around to telling you about the Music Row Chicken. (Or did I? I haz the oldz.) It's a pet hen belonging to one of the residents around here and it had taken to wandering around both my company's buildings. Often I'd see her peering through the meeting room windows, no doubt spying for the competition.

However, our groupie hen almost became a dead duck. 'Music Row Chicken' has narrow escape.

But all's well that ends well, although it looks like her wandering days are over now. I guess I'd rather see her missing because she's cared for and not because she's joined the choir invisible.

OMG, I forgot! I went to the Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga last week, and they had a couple of magnificent chickens. I suppose I'll upload some pics of the castle later on, but obviously the chickens are top priority.

This one was a bit shy -- didn't want a close-up -- but at least you can see the punk-rock thing she's got going on. Spoilered for hugeness so you can zoom in if you want (eta: dammit, I could have cropped this just a hair more and it would have fit the table).

This one, however, had no such reservations. Quite the diva, this one. I wanted to hug her and squeeze her, but obviously she would have none of that nonsense.

OMG SO MANY GREAT CHICKENS. The All Black is too stylish for words, as is Henry's POLKADOTTED DIAPER. Then Sack hits me with the double-whammy of Crested and Silkie. It's all too much for me.

It is with a heavy heart that I must report that Henry, the Music Row Chicken, has died.

There is a Hot Yoga studio nearby and a few weekends ago, one of their clients left their dog outside while they went to yoga. (Unrestrained!! Geez, people are foo king stupid!) This dog marched himself right into the backdoor of the house where Henry lived with her owners and ripped her throat out. They discovered what had happened when they went inside and followed the blood trail.

So ... shame on those dog owners but shame on Henry's owners, too, for not having a proper enclosure for her.
