Cruchy is best, but creamy works best if you are trying to spread it on Wonder Bread. It goes without saying that no one above the age of 12 should even consider eating Wonder Bread or any of the similar breads made from enriched white flour (aka. desicated school paste). My wife calls it "boy bread".

The question should be: does it have the hot peppers in it or do you add pepper sauce later?

Agreed. I recently bought bread called German Dark Wheat. It's so good.

Wonder Bread goes really, really well with brie. Don't ask me how I know.

They are both awesome. Once the jar of creamy has run out, get a jar of crunchy and once that has run out - back to the creamy.

But if I could only have one, I guess I would choose creamy.

I am likely to be going to Georgia (the state, not the country) in the near future and I would like some advice regarding boiled peanuts, other than don't eat them.

Are they meant to be eaten with shell on or off?

Are they meant to be eaten hot or cold?

Should I shell them and mash them up and spread them on Wonder Bread?

TIA

:vapours:

The guys selling them on the side of the road in rural Georgia have the best ones. Shy away from buying them from stores in Atlanta, most folks here ain't actually from here. They don't know about peanuts OR bbq.

Hot is the way to go, but they're not bad cold. Try eating them with the shell on then you tell me. :P

Also Wonder Bread is for grape jelly and Hellman's Mayonnaise. Though probably not at the same time.

Ah, I knew grape jelly (your heathen word for jam) would get mentioned in this thread sooner or later. Apparently some of you degenerate colonials like to combine it with peanut butter?

No, no. Jam is better than jelly. They are not the same. Jelly is not eatable.

My understanding, as my mom laid it out when she'd have us help with the jarring and canning (a habit I never picked up 'cause it's way too much work for me) jelly uses just the juice, jam uses the flesh too, but usually super pulped with no chunks, while preserves practically toss the whole fruit in and call it a day. Jelly is like spreading not-quite-set Jell-O on your sandwich. Preserves can be nice, depending on the fruit, but it totally ruins the spreadability. Jam is the best of both worlds.

I think it also matters what fruit you are working with. For example pomegranate jelly is delicious but would be horrid as a jam or preserve. The same would go for cactus, mulberry or mint, I should think. I think that grape also works best as a jelly, but fig or strawberry are much better as jams. Apple is best as a jelly unless you are making apple butter. Peaches, plums, apricots and cherries make excellent jams and preserves. Lemons and oranges should be prepared as marmalades, though my dad used to make an excellent lemon jelly. On the whole, I prefer jellies to jams but that is not to denigrate jams at all. I adore marmalades. I remember being introduced to a ginger marmalade in Canada and it was to die for.
