yeah because a guy with a economics PHD (Scott Lazarowitz, the author of the article) is not able to understand this and you, random internet lady, you really know more than him!
|
His blog profile says he majored in psychology and doesn't mention a PhD (or any degree) at all. Where did you come up with that?
ETA: Even more research trying to verify your claim indicates that Scott Lazarowitz is a random Internet dude that writes a lot on his blog, contributes to Lew Rockwell's site, and posts a lot of comments around other blogs and sites. No professional publications or credentials to be found.

But I studied economics in the sense of really learning about it after college, mostly during the 1980s, by hearing people on the radio and on tapes, and reading various material–mostly libertarian-based periodicals.

So did you make it up that he was a PhD in economics, or did you hope your claim wouldn't be checked? Do you think his learning about it by listening to the radio is some super special education nobody else can get?

No, it doesn't.
If it did, then it wouldn't rely on exercise of force to enforce contracts.
And if it did, then it would have useful ways to combat economic costs at the periphery. But it doesn't have any such ways to combat those costs.

The real income tax rates in Norway, Sweden, Belgium, France and Denmark are all higher than Italy:

AML probably doesn't even realize that if Hoppe & Friends were to get their way, AML himself would actually be a target for resistance and eradication.
It never ceases to amaze me how often idiots like AML throw out these grand ideas to remake society without first double-checking first to see if those changes would backfire on them.

Well, since listening to the radio and reading Libertarian periodicals turns a blogging psychology major into someone with a PhD in economics, yeah why not let Joe Sixpack -who is statistically likely to be unable to find the USA on a map and think the world is <10000 years old-be the benchmark.

Unless we're talking about Chile, in which case, by all means, Pinochet, use the military to shoot people in the face. It's in the name of free market economics, so it's ok.

How do you know the market is always more efficient? How do you know that you would pay less if everything was privatised? You keep saying these things, but so far you have been unable to explain how your system is supposed to work, apart from claiming that it works. You just repeat that things would be better, without actually explaining how or why.
I pointed out some objections to the opinion of Friedman, whom you said represented your point of view. You did not have any answer to them, and yet here you are repeating the same opinion as if nothing was ever said!
This does not look like rational behaviour to me. I am trying to form an opinion of your economic philosophy, but so far it seems your ideas about it are not very well thought out, and you seem to have no answer to the problems I have spotted. Why is this? You speak as if you are very certain, but you seem unable to explain why you are so certain about all this. How can you keep repeating the same thing when you cannot defend or explain it?
|
AML, are you going to answer any of the questions Vivisectus asks here?
Can you tell me how selfishness is "human nature" but unselfish acts are not?
Can you reconcile your ideology with Ayn Rand's entire rejection of the same?
Can you acknowledge why you claim to be taxed at 50-55%, when tax brackets in Italy don't go that high?
Can you acknowledge that your claim that Scott Lazarowitz' has a PhD in economics is false?
Can you reconcile your continued plagiarism with your ideology?

Fascism is not an economic philosophy - discussing it as being economically left- or rightwing is like arguing a potato is a citrus-fruit or a non-citrus fruit.
You are a fascist because you think of people as like you, a category into which you shunt all people you admire or think of as worthwhile (as well as yourself), and people who according to you are either worth less or worthless altogether. You justify doing this with empty slogans that you do not understand, and blame them for your own shortcomings and for whatever you feel is wrong with society. That, in a nutshell, is your average fascist. It does not matter what you use as the actual dividing line: you can use nationalism, racism, religion, political ideology, social class - famously, Mrs Rand herself ended up dividing all people into those who agreed with her and where therefore morally upstanding, more intelligent and worthwhile, and people who did not and where therefore useless trash.
Just as you grossly oversimplify everything - even this very post that I am responding to - so that it fits your infantile excuse for a philosophy which you claim to be an adherent to, but cannot defend or even explain. You do not know what Libertarianism is. It is far from "very simple" as you just described it:
Quote:
|
and about Libertarianism, well libertarianism is very simple: other people are not you property and you may not fuck with other people business
|
Libertarianism requires the free market to form a complex network of mutually beneficial interactions, and it requires this network to find a balance where everyone is better off. It requires this to happen without any outside intervention. It is not "very simple". You just want a very simple solution because you are either too lazy or too dense to handle anything more complex.
The proof of this? I already given it to you in the case of Friedmanian free-market law enforcement. I have already showed you a scenario where self-interest, which Libertarianism holds to be the sole motivator, can actually lead not to an efficient and just system of law-enforcement and justice but to a multi-national protection racket with regular turf-wars between rival factions.
You have not addressed this scenario, but in stead continue to repeat your slogans - empty phrases that you do not understand. You have no interest in economics, or philosophy. You just want to pretend to adhere to it because it gives you something to blame all the ills in society on. It gives you something to blame your own glaringly obvious shortcomings on. You are not a libertarian at all, you are merely a closet fascist poseur.
Here is a challenge for you: Why don't you prove me wrong? Go back and actually read some libertarian literature, and then debate it with me on it's merits? You are unable to do so now simply because you have not done your homework: you have not taken the time to get to understand what you are advocating. Your knowledge of it is too shallow even deal with even the most simple objections. Now that you have your degree, surely you must be capable of doing better?
The kind of person that I suspect you to be would not be capable of doing more than a little cutting and pasting, and would not be able to hold an informed debate on the philosophy, because he is not really interested in it as a philosophy: it is merely an easy way to find scapegoats, to explain why the country is going to hell in a hand-basket, and that if HE were in charge, all the trains would run on time.
So far you have consistently confirmed this suspicion of mine. So here is a challenge for you: show me that your opinion has merit.

Re: Ayndy, you 'ave some Libersplainin' to do!
I once had an online debate with some Objectivist idiot whose user name was 99 percent (at one time he was an iidb mod, which tells you all you need to know about iidb.)
I asked him, under his philosophy, whether it was OK for the owner of a patent on a life-saving drug to refuse to sell it to a dying man who happened to be black, because the owner didn't like blacks. He said that was OK.
Then I asked him whether it would be OK if he, 99 Percent, where hurtling down a rushing river toward a waterfall that would take him over the side to certain death, and a guy on shore had a life preserver that he refused to sell or give to 99 Percent just because he didn't like 99 Percent. No, no, that would be wrong! The guy on shore would be guilty of a crime!
Tells you all you need to know about these hypocritical turds. Much like Ayn Rand taking government handouts toward the end of her life after the medical system had bled her dry for cancer treatments.
