Re: Isolation diaries
Today, I cancelled my Diner's Club card, which I've had since 1987. I used to travel a lot, and the card--before Diner's Club got swallowed up by MasterCard--was very useful. I flew often enough to rack up enough rewards points to buy a Bosch rotary miter saw and other neat things. Now, though, I don't travel much at all, and I couldn't justify the $130 annual fee. I transferred my Guardian membership to another card, cancelled the Diner's Club card, and redeemed 9,066 points for a CD boombox and a fancy gift bag.
And we got a car insurance dividend check from the AAA, because no one's been driving during the lockdown.
ETA: Actually, I redeemed 9,000 of my 9,066 rewards points.

Re: Isolation diaries
Not sure my mind can ever return to where it was.
I was watching an episode of "Little House on the Prairie" where they were all in church, singing hymns enthusiastically - and no doubt moistly - and I was horrified and convinced they are all going to die soon.

My co-worker is shitting around the office. I'm trying not to hate her. The Mor-Man wants her terminated.
I'm still on covid leave, thanks to Justin Trudeau.

So my long underpants kept falling down and I thought maybe I was actually losing weight but the elastic had given out. Dammit.

Drafts out the door to the other side today; weekend looks pretty free. Watching a "Frankie Drake" mystery with Mrs. S and daughter.

Re: Isolation diaries
My #3 sister (who lives in south-west Wales) has a birthday today. We had a family 'party' on Zoom - parents, sister #2 (lives in Bradford) and sister #1 (in Essex) plus #2's kids, one with her in Bradford, the other in Sheffield. Various cakes were eaten, plans discussed for drinking prosecco and having yet more online calls and not going for walks on the beach because even though that's allowed now, it's incredibly windy there and across the UK.
My aged laptop does not seem to like video calls - had to restart the browser a couple of times.

Ya, I've found for video calling a modern phone is superior to any aging laptop.
Unless you have a large conference call.

Re: Isolation diaries
Well, the nephew fell off the wagon today. Bummer. It's been something like 8 years.
Last one was a week long binge that ended in the county rehab.
I'm tempted to join him, but SOMEBODY will have to clean up the mess. [sigh]
And the mrs will likely shoot me if I left it to her.

Ouch, that's hard. I haven't had a drink in >15 yrs and these days I think of it rarely, never seriously consider it. I sometimes tell people I meet that if they ever see me drinking they should assume I've thrown in the towel.

Re: Isolation diaries
Started the day out with a trip to Dog Park, then climbed onto the roof and helped clean the dirt off the metal awning over the front porch. Then cleaned off the front porch. After that, I needed a shower.
This afternoon, I took a nap.

Re: Isolation diaries
My daughter graduated from college today. It was a virtual ceremony. There's something lacking in the sense of transition. Also, I missed the bulk of the commencement speeches doing tech support for my mother.
